JetBlue Code Share and 11 Hours on Tarmac

Feb 15th, 2007 | By Jared Blank

Some JetBlue passengers were stranded for as along as 11 hours on the tarmac at JFK as they waited out a winter storm.  Yes, 11 hours.  In their defense, well, uh, there is no in-their-defense (you can read the official statement here.)  The airline said that they’ll give a refund and an additional free flight [...]

Flight Attendant Fired for Alleged Mid-Air Sex with Ralph Fiennes

Feb 13th, 2007 | By Jared Blank

A Qantas flight attendant may be fired for having an alleged sexual encounter with Ralph Fiennes in a first class bathroom while she was working.  The flight attendant disputes the charge, saying she went to the bathroom after having a conversation with Fiennes and that he followed her in.  The odd (well, another odd) part [...]

Man Removes Pants to Go Through Security

Feb 13th, 2007 | By Jared Blank

I know I sometimes feel a bit violated as I go through airport security and am asked to remove my jacket, shoes, belt, and whatnot.  A German passenger in Manila’s airport felt the same way, so he took off his pants in protest.  Authorities were not amused.

US Airways Chief Arrested for Drunk Driving

Feb 12th, 2007 | By Jared Blank

This is a shocker:  US Airways’ CEO Douglas Parker was arrested for drunk driving on January 31st, it was reported on Friday.  To make things worse for him, he had 3 prior alcohol-related legal incidents in his 20s (granted, that may or may not be relevant to the recent arrest, but the Phoenix papers are [...]

Goodbye Western Airlines

Feb 9th, 2007 | By Jared Blank

Western Airlines, a scheduled charter airline flying from Bellingham, Washington (?!), to Phoenix (Mesa, AZ, actually), Ontario, CA,  and San Diego, has shut down after just two weeks in business.  The airline, which was run by Xtra Airways, ran out of cash after a glitch in credit card processing.  Or so they say.  Let me [...]

Gulfstream Test Flight Leaves Mark on Internet

Feb 8th, 2007 | By Jared Blank

Airline nerd story alert:
Gulfstream did an 8 hour test of one of its Gulfstream V aircraft today solely (?) so it could form a flight track across 11 states in the shape of "GV," the initials for the Gulfstream V.  That will make more sense if you look here.
Thanks, as always, to GloomyJoe for that [...]
