Skybus, Again: Please Don’t Bring Food On Board
April 25 2007 06:46 am
I probably should have consolidated all this Skybus stuff into one post. Oh well.
A few additional tidbits to share:
–You aren’t allowed to bring food onboard. That just seems kinda mean.
–Seat pitch is in the 29"-30" range.
–Pay $10 and you can board early.
–You can change tickets for $40
–You have to be at the gate 30 minutes prior to takeoff. I get the sense (like Ryanair) they’re serious about this.
–They have no phone.
–$5 each to check your first two bags.
–No onboard entertainment.
–Seats start at $10 and go up to $150.
Just thought you’d like to know. It really is a Ryanair-ish model. Best of luck…

The part I really don’t get is the “you can’t bring your own food and drink.” I don’t know any airline that does this — even Ryanair allows you to bring nourishment (except hot beverages, which maybe isn’t a bad idea — I had a guy spill a coffee on me while boarding a CO flight last year). Is it good to have dehydrated pax? I guess you just have to have the mindset that you’ll be buying a couple $2 sodas on your way to Bellingham.
And no doubt pax will occasionally be screwed by the no telephone and limied gate agent policies — like every time something goes wrong with your flight. I pity the fool who’s booked on SkyBus during a snowstorm.

The good news is there’s never any snow in Columbus, Ohio
