Being based here in KL, have used both Air Asia and Malaysia Airlines. Must say Malaysia Airlines truly shines head above shoulders. Air Asia is ok as a no-frills. But chronic delays have forced our company to use Malaysia Airlines even for domestic travel. They've taken quite a hit from Malaysia Airlines' low fares as you mentioned whihc by the way cover both domestic and some international routes. Air Asia did some quick fix price slashes in response. Looks like they are desperate to recoup. They've even introduced more new food items and merchandise for sale on board with some media spin calling the move their bid to become a "5 Star" airline. Personally don't quite understand it. I have this morbid vision of it being a 7-11 onboard! God forbid! I figure they have no choice what with their share price nosediving. Read this it;s pretty funny, http://www.flickr.com/photos/27805040@N08/2586759044/

Oh, I must have missed where US' CEO has decided not to take compensation for the rest of the year like Continental's CEO did. Do you have a link? I thought not.

Charging for water is the worst idea ever. What happens during the 5 hour tarmac waiting game? They'll get all sorts of good press because they gave the water away for free instead of charging? Give me a break. Will they also charge for a cup of ice so I can take on my larger $4 bottle of water/soda I bought in the terminal?

And I wouldn't drink the water from most water fountains. I'm no fanatic (I drink water from my own tap) but there's no way to know about when the last time that fountain was cleaned.

Technically, the TSA won't let you carry bottled water into the airport. BUT- I don't see any provision against taking an _empty_ water bottle through the checkpoint and then filling it up from a water fountain once inside...

saves you $2
