A drunk first class passenger angry at watching coach passengers depart his Delta flight before him in Georgetown, Guyana, pulled the emergency chute and slid down it to speed up his exit from the plane. He was arrested and released on bail.

A reporter covering the Euro 2008 soccer/football tournament found himself running late for his Air Dolomiti flight from Verona to Vienna. So he did what any of us would do: he called the airline and made a bomb threat so the flight would be delayed. Clever.
Except that when he arrived at the airport he said to the gate agent that he heard the flight was delayed. Which was funny, as it hadn’t been delayed. Police then interviewed the man and found, of course, that he used the cellphone on him to make the bomb threat. The end.

Some schmuck was arrested on a Southwest flight from Austin to Dallas after he repeatedly refused to turn off his cell phone in flight. After a flight attendant asked him to get off the phone, he turned to her and said, “Kiss my ass.” He was cited for disorderly conduct.

As my mother reads this website, I’ll just say this: A woman is suing American Airlines because the passenger in the seat next to her was doing something to himself that people typically don’t do in public and the resulting aftermath was reminiscent of a scene in There’s Something About Mary. American denies responsibility, though their old slogan “Something Special in the Hair” (or was it Air?) seems fitting…

(Thanks - I think - to Today in the Sky for this…)
A Brazilian woman on her way to Italy was stopped by baggage control in Munich when they found a human skeleton in her luggage. After some discussion, it was determined that the skeleton was the remains of her brother, whose last wish was to be buried in Italy. Impressively, the woman had the correct paperwork to transport said bones to said country, and was allowed to continue on her journey.

A Texas man was sentenced to 10 months in prison after a drunken incident on a JetBlue flight from Houston to JFK. Jose Roman, Jr, got drunk and was refused additional drinks when he asked flight attendants for them. So far, so good. He then got rather belligerent, freaked out on the flight attendants, and, in a drunken rage, made death threats.
Airlines generally don’t look too fondly on that type of behavior, so flight was diverted to Buffalo (Buffalo? Is that on the way from Houston to New York? I’m sure there’s a story there…) and he was arrested. The moral? When you get really drunk on a plane and freak out on the flight attendants, don’t threaten to kill them.

For the second time in as many years, a German traveler headed to Sydney, Australia, mistakenly bought a ticket to Sidney, Montana, and landed in the small outpost before realizing what was going on. How someone could end up on a prop plane from Seattle and think that they’ll continue flying 7,000 miles is a little nutty to me, but there ya go.

A male passenger on a United flight from Washington to Seattle last week was arrested for groping the woman in the seat next to him while she slept. The two had been chatting, but the woman dozed off (must have been scintillating conversation) and while she slept, the man decided that was a great time to feel her up. The woman woke up, complained to flight attendants, who summoned onboard air marshalls, and the flight diverted to Pittsburgh where he was jailed.

A man was arrested at Dallas/Fort Worth airport after police found him sitting on an American Eagle jetbridge covered in salad dressing. He also didn’t notice that he was missing a shoe.
A quick investigation found that he had spent the day drinking vodka at an airport watering hole.

An irate passenger at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport was handcuffed and placed in a holding cell on Friday after she screamed at a customer service agent in the airport. Police went to check on her soon after and found that she had died in the cell. Cops think she may have choked herself to death while trying to get out of the handcuffs. Incidentally, the woman was the stepdaughter-in-law of the New York City’s public advocate (though that’s neither here nor there).
The woman became extremely angry after she was not permitted to board her US Airways flight and was re-booked on a later departure.
