Two highlights of this lounge: the view of the apron and runway and the cheerful, friendly Lufthansa agent who was checking boarding passes outside the lounge.  I asked the gal if I could take a picture of the lounge entrance. She said absolutely and posed in front of the Lufthansa sign.  I did not post it as I’m sure she would have opted out of the picture had she known it was for a blog.

The only Lufthansa attendant I had interaction with inside the lounge was a bit snooty. Each of the two times I asked her a question, she smirked at me as though she was thinking:
“Are you seriously asking this question, you idiot…”
She also spoke perfect English and had no accent at all… go figure…

There was plenty of room to spread out which included some restaurant type seating near the food and beverage areas. There was an assortment of fresh breads, cereal and fruit. The only hot food was a Panini “bar” where one of the attendants heated up ham or veggie paninis. My ham panini left a bit to be desired a.ka. the quality of ham was not very good.
There was a solid selection of spirits, highlighted by Bouvet Brut and Famous Goose Scotch. Also available, 2 different beers on tap in addition to several varieties of Becks in bottles.

It wasn’t the Business Class Lounge in Doha but Lufthansa’s Tower Lounge was much better than 90% of the lounges I have seen in the US.

  1. It looks so much better, finally they have some lounges which look more like what a lounge should be. The older style was in such need of a refurb.

  2. It is a nice lounge but can get very crowded and noisy. I am surprised to see it so empty. What time of the day where you there ?

  3. Nice pictures.

Shouldn’t that be Famous Grouse, or Grey Goose? Unless it was a blend of the 2? :)

  4. The lounge near gate A65 has ice cream. That’s all that matters to me!

  5. Thanks for the comments!
@ptahcha – HA! Great catch- my eyesight (or mind) must have been blurry that morning

  6. Like the previous poster said, lounge gets quite busy- they also have shower facilities which is nice- after spending 10+ hours there.

  7. The best thing about Frankfurt’s Tower Lounge is the beer and lots of interesting candies, too.

  8. I am a United red Carpet Club member. Can I use this lounge in Frankfurt? I am getting conflicting information.

  9. @Joe -I would definitely try to access the lounge, however, technically, I do not believe Red Crapet Club membership will gain you access to that lounge. I am almost certain you need a business class ticket on United, Lufthansa or another Star Alliance partner. I was flying United business at the time (I think)
There is also a Star Alliance lounge nearby, that you could try. Hope this helps.

  10. When I got to the Frankfurt tower lounge last summer, there were no empty seats, the place was hot, full of loud passengers, the food looked unappetizing, and workers were hard pressed. I walked through the lounge and left as soon as I could (not so easy with the bottleneck at the elevators). Waiting on the concourse was more pleasant than my experience in the lounge, except for the view out the tower windows.

I have been quite a few times to Frankfurt, and here is my advice based on that experience. If you travel first class, then prepare for an extraordinary treat, in the first class terminal or in the new first class lounge, and with the ground service.

On the other hand, if you fly economy or business, it is just as well to skip the lounges. And if it’s convenient for you to use a different airport for origin or connection, then go for it!
