About

Greetings! Thanks for coming by. My name is Chris Mangiapane and I write Planereality.com
When I was a kid, I used to take the Travel Section of the New York Times from my parents and cut out those tour company ads asking if you would like additional information. I filled out every single one and mailed them in. At the time, I was interested in far off places, but mostly just thought it was cool to get a bunch of stuff in the mail. My parents still receive those informational travel brochures in the mail, addressed to me, even though they have moved several times.
25 years later, I was laid off from a Wall Street firm and I had some time to brainstorm about different ideas. I came up with Planereality.com. I was not sure if I would even like travelling and writing so I flew around the world (literally) on a bunch of different airlines. I left on a Monday and returned that Friday, saw almost “nothing” besides airports and airlines and I loved it. Unfortunately, it did not occur to me to bring a camera, so I had to do it again!
I don’t really like being somewhere for very long, which may be why I am good at always being on my way to somewhere else. Destinations are an afterthought, I just find cheap airfares.
I don’t eat brown lettuce and I like ukulele music.
Shoot me an email with your thoughts, feedback, criticism, suggestions…it’s all good!
