This past weekend we had the opportunity to use the cash & points option to stay 3 nights at the St Regis Atlanta.  I would say it was above my expectations.  We paid a rate of $90 and 4800 points per night when standard rates for our days were going for $243.  So we used our SPG points at a value of $.031 per point.

Check In

Arrival went smoothly and the bellman followed us to the front desk and waited for us to check in.  A platinum welcome amenity was offered as either points or local award.  We chose the local award which turned out to be a bottle of Pinot Noir and chocolates.

Hotel Room

We were told we were upgraded to a Metropolitan suite at check in, but I think we actually had a Caroline Astor suite.  The room was large with 3 separate rooms, a walk in closet, and a small balcony.  Our room had a view of the pool and downtown Atlanta.  Turn down service came every night usually around 7 PM.  We really enjoyed the room and can’t say enough how much we liked it.  The room had two large flat screen TVs, an Ipod docking station, and a pretty serious surround sound system.

The hotel lobby bar and pool area were very cool.  Friday there was a wedding reception party on the grassy area in the picture above.  The lobby bar was celebrating the 1 year anniversary of the St Regis Atlanta by serving free Woodford Reserve and live banjo music.  There are a few celebrity sightings at this hotel, we think they are filming a movie in the area.  The pool area was great, they did a really nice job making it feel like an oasis and of course there is a bar right next to the pool where we hit up the $15 Bellini.

Bottom Line

I would highly recommend staying at the St Regis Atlanta either on points or a good rate.  If you can use the points and cash option it will really stretch your points further.

Hi! I am staying here Dec 24th – 27th. Rate is like $260 and they have the cash and points option for 4800 points and $90. Is that worth it to use points. We have around 40K points and not sure it is worth using around 14K of them for this hotel. We are new to using points. how do you calculate the value of points? Thanks!

    Whitney

  • The Weekly Flyer said,

Its easy to calculate the value.

    1) 260/20000 equals about 1.3 cents per point
    2) 170 (260-90) / 4800 equals about 3.1 cents per point

I would use the cash and points option
