Hotel and Check In

It was a short drive from the Palma airport (PMI) to the Hilton Sa Torre Mallorca Hotel, in all it took about 25 minutes and was a very easy drive (see this map of the drive).  Here is a picture of the shore near the hotel.

We arrived at the hotel very pleasantly surprised, the hotel has a very cool atmosphere.  It has a feeling of being out in the country side and has an old church and wind mill.  Apparently there is/was a building restriction on new buildings in Mallorca so a developer bought the old property from a family and renovated it into a hotel.

We were greeted at the front desk by a young lady who checked us in quickly and efficiently.  She recognized my Hilton Diamond status and upgraded us to a junior suite room.  We were then given a quick tour of the grounds and the room by the bellman. The staff at this property is very friendly and goes out of their way to help the guests.

During our stay we received free breakfast w/champagne and were invited to a manager’s cocktail reception where we met some interesting people.  The World Cup was going on while we were there and the hotel’s bar was full every night for the games.

We didn’t spend much of the time in the room, instead we spent time at one of the many beaches or lounging by one of the two pools at the hotel.  The lunches by the pool were set up great.  They have a few tables under an olive tree and it was very relaxing.

Here are some pictures of the hotel and grounds:

We were checked into a small suite that was very modern.  Our room was a moderate size and was a perfect “home base” for our 4 nights on this side of the island.  It came with a living room, porch, bedroom area and bathroom.  Here are a few pictures of the room:

Island

We used the Hilton essentially as a “home base” for 4 of our 6 nights on Mallorca.  We checked out a bunch of beaches (cala), with the favorite being cala Mondrago.  The water was crystal clear at all of the cala’s we visited.

Bottom Line

Our overall impression of the hotel was favorable and that is was a very good value.  It was a great place to use the free night Hilton certificates from last year’s promotion.  The hotel is a bit secluded but it was exactly what we were looking for in the part of the trip where we just wanted to relax.  I would recommend this hotel to someone staying on Mallorca.
