Lodge at Lake Lure Trip Report

We recently had a great weekend stay at the Lodge on Lake Lure, a near by Bed and Breakfast.  Using a current promotion they are running, we received 20% off our entire weekend stay (The promotion is good through end of March), there is also a $25 Gift Card Promotion I detailed in this post.   A quick 3.5 hour drive from Atlanta and we were in for a great relaxing weekend.

Arrival

We were greeted with by a nice young concierge and taken to our room.  We were given a short tour of the facilities and a welcome to the daily complementary happy hour in the main area of  the hotel.  At happy hour we were the only guests and had a chance to have a conversation with the concierge who recently re-joined the property from a near by property which had been sold (Esmeralda Inn).  Later on Friday evening a few guests joined the B&B, in all I think there were 4 or 5 rooms occupied the weekend we were there.  I have the feeling this place gets busy during the summer as it is right on the lake with two boat docks and a very nice deck overlooking the lake.

The Room

We checked into room 3, which was a corner room facing the lake on the upper floor.  The room had a fire place w/sitting area, bedroom, balcony, and bathroom with a claw foot tub (See pictures below – pardon the personal items).  I would recommend room 3 or 4 if I were to go back, they seem to have the best views of the lake and most updated rooms.

Lake Lure

We really enjoyed our short weekend at Lake Lure and the surrounding area including Asheville.  One day we drove all around the lake and finished with dinner at Larkins on the Lake for some cocktails and great view (see picture below).   The other we took the quick drive (google map link) over to Asheville and toured the town’s shops and hand lunch.

Bottom Line

Overall we had a very nice trip at the Lodge at Lake Lure.  We did not play the status based upgrade game, or receive a Platinum welcome amenity, or check-in bonus points, but we did get a fantastic room, great breakfast every day, fantastic service, and best of all there was no “resort charge” but instead free cocktails in the evening.  Combining the Bed & Breakfast $25 gift card and current promotions (such as the 20% off at Lodge at Lake Lure) at Bed & Breakfast establishments will give you beyond great value for the dollar and if your on the road as much as I am, it will give you a chance to get away from the corporate chains for a few days.
