On Sunday, 50 Delta passengers were inconvenienced with a cancelled flight. The flight cancelled was DL3743 from Grand Forks, ND to Minneapolis, MN.
Flight cancellations happen all the time so why is this different? Well, it turns out the flight attendant is now being investigated for allegations of intoxication.
Delta requires, at a minimum, crew members to sober up at least 12 hours before any flight. Appears this crew member is being investigated for not being able to meet the minimum requirements, and the flight was scheduled to depart at 2:40 PM CST!
Bottom Line
The crew member would have likely been fine if Delta went by the FAA requirement of 8 sober hours before a flight. Being susceptible to something happening to the often 1 flight attendant is just another reason not to go out of your way to flight a regional jet.

Good point, but from a smaller airport, that’s often your only option.

I can appreciate why DL requires 12 h. A person with a strong hangover, while sober, probably is not any more useful as an employee than one who is still intoxicated.
