The other day we shared an amazing targeted offer for 100k Membership Rewards points with the American Express Platinum Card. From readers comments, it appears American Express has a targeted campaign for 100,000 Membership Rewards points (or 150k Avios Points with 50% transfer bonus) with a new American Express Platinum Card.

We received the offer in the mail and quickly called to apply for the 100k Membership Rewards points after only 3,000 in spending within 3 month.

We applied over the phone by calling 877-801-4221. The agent we spoke with was very nice but we weren’t approved instantly on the phone. Instead the agent advised us to check the americanexpress.com/applicationstatus website for an answer only one hour later.

One hour turned into two days but eventually we were approved. We now have the opportunity to earn 100k with the American Express Playinum card.

We’ve heard from a number of you that were also targeted.

How long did it take for your application to process? Are there any that had instant approval?

    Not quite 150k ba since the promo will be over when you get your bonus points.

    I applied in July 2011 and was instantly approved, however, that was before I started credit card churning heavily, so there was only one or two hard inquiries on my credit report. I highly doubt I would be instantly approved now since I have 12 inquiries on both experian/equifax.

    I had the personal version of the card and cancelled it in August. On Friday I received a targeted letter for 100k for the business version. Not the same deal as the consumer card due to higher spend, but still 100k points. Immediately applied on-line and was instantly approved. Now I need spend $10k to get the bonus.

    Within past 60 days I was approved for 50k platinum offer. Do you know if Amex will honor the 100k offer (a 50k bump) if I just met the 3k spend requirement?
