There are many things I like about redeeming Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) points for hotel reservations. Not only do award redemptions give the chance to experience some of the greatest hotels, the opportunity to use suite upgrade certificates (if you are a Platinum with over 50 nights), but you also get to experience hotels for zero out of pocket cost.

My recent reservation came with no mention of a resort fee, a great value from my SPG point redemption, and my favorite award redemption benefit of all.

Any guesses where I redeemed 120,000 Starpoints?

The best part of the SPG award redemption is the ability to earn night and stay credit toward elite qualification for next year.

What is your favorite and least favorite part of a SPG award redemption?

That is a nice chunk of change – What resort did you redeem for?

I like the fact that one can still get suite upgrades on award stays.

Per your suggestion, I now make sure I have a rewards number at every hotel I go to. So pissed that I ignored it for so long. My my first stay at a Grand Hyatt in Denver last weekend. Will keep you updated on cool amenities I earn in going forward. Thanks!

You redeemed 120k pts for 1 night at St Regis Bora Bora………..?

Since W. Maldives is “very cold”… is it somewhere in Asia, maybe Japan? You seem like a St. Regis kind of guy, is it the St. Regis Osaka?

Love the four points guess :)

It is fr the St Regis Princeville. Alex went there and had an awesome experience so we are going back to Kauai to chek out the place for ourselves.

    Hey – it’s the cheapest way to plat75 and your24 :-P

    Enjoy Kauai – it’s a wonderful island.

  • The Weekly Flyer said,

Hi Matt – Agree with you. I’ve endured a number of four points in my days, for weeks at a time. There are some good ones ad some bad ones for sure.

  • jim a said,

what is the suggestion about getting a reward number mentioned in post # 4 above.

    not getting it.

    thanks

Hi Jim. The CPA in question is a good friend and in the past, he didn’t put hotel loyalty acct numbers on his paid hotel reservations. He was leaving many points on the table.
