Marriott emailed its members today announcing that the hotel chain has added four Gaylord Resorts to the Marriott Family.

“To introduce Rewards members to this spectacular new brand, you can enjoy earning and redeeming at the Gaylord National, Gaylord Palms and the Gaylord Texan beginning October 29, 2012”

It appears the Gaylord Opryland, the most famous of the four resorts, is not bookable at this time though they have asked members to watch for more news from Marriott Rewards on Gaylord Opryland in 2013.  For what it is worth, they have assigned this hotel as a Category 6 property.

The bottom line

If you have never stayed at a Gaylord property, they can best be described as MASSIVE resorts where you should plan to get lost at least once during your stay.  I have had several work conferences at Gaylord National on the National Harbor in DC and have visited the Gaylord Opryland and Gaylord Palms which are tourist attractions in and of themselves.  As far as redemptions go, three of the properties excluding Gaylord National come in as a Marriott Category 6 hotel requiring 30,000 points (25,000 PointSavers).  Gaylord National comes in at a Category 5 requiring  25,000 points (20,000 PointSavers).  Again, all but the Opryland resort are bookable starting October 29th.
