Have you ever wondered where all Delta’s lie-flat seats are flying? We wonder all the time in hopes of catching an upgrade to lie-flat Business Class (like 777 to LAX or 767 to Atlanta) on one of these internationally configured planes on a domestic route. We recently found out that the red-eye from Seattle to Atlanta is operated by a 767 with the new truly lie-flat Business Class seats.
Routes With Dedicated Lie Flat Beds

- All FRA
- ATL-DUS

These routes are subject to change and more will likely be added as more of the 767 planes are converted to the new lie-flat seats.
Bottom Line
Delta operates some great internationally configured planes on domestic routes and international routes. Knowing which flights have the lie-flat options, and booking them, will increase your chances of flying in the new lie-flat business class seats.

Note on the SEA – ATL red eye. I flew it a month ago and it was a crappy 757, no AVOD, domestic F. Is this a new change!

Wait, so which domestic routes have the internationally configured planes?

Hi Bobby – It is new and isn’t on all days from what I can see.
Hi rk – That is a separate post series all together. But to start, we thought we’d share the international departure airports the newly configured planes leave from.

Hi Babs – I don’t know for sure when they’ll be added to Spain routes on a dedicated basis. But you can keep tabs on the rollout of flat bed seats across the 767-300 fleet through this Flyertalk post:

Yes, the Paris flights are lie-flat on Delta metal. This really hurts the Air France flight on this route. The AF flight is operated by a 777 with the angled lie-flat seats. Even if AF upgrades this route to A380 (which I don’t think they will) their A380 seats are still angled lie-flat although they are slightly better (IMO) than their 777 angled lie-flat product.

I flew ATL-FCO-ATL on a paid Alitalia FC fare in Aug 2010, it was a code share operated by DL with the staggered lie flat beds.
The Weekly Flyer said,
Hi Tiffany – Although you might find the lie-flat beds on other routes, the above are the current lie-flat routes with “dedicated” lie-flat bed service. For example, currently the ATL-FCO route is operated by a plane with the old style business class seats.
The “dedicated” routes will likely increase as more lie-flat bed planes come on line.

Delta has the habit of listing one type of plane/seat then changing after you book. I had a flight from ATL-CDG on a plane with lie flat seats, and when I looked at my sky miles account I noticed a flight change. I now have seats on a 767 with sleeper seats. Whatever they are.
