I recently returned from a week in the fascinating country of Japan.  A stop at the Park Hyatt Tokyo was a must given the hotel is one of the most famous hotels in the world and is easily attainable using Hyatt points.

I stayed in a suite in March when I first visited this hotel and was blown away by the Diamond benefits including unlimited room service breakfast every morning, a bottle of wine and cake as a welcome amenity, free access to the pool and spa, and a waived (~30 USD per person) cover charge at the New York Bar featured in Lost in Translation.  On my last stay, I spent a pretty penny at the New York Bar sitting atop the hotel as some of the simpler drinks run 20-30 USD but it was worth it for the ambiance and unmatched view.

Upon my return this December, I thoroughly enjoyed all of the same spoiling Diamond benefits from the last stay though they actually added an additional benefit sometime between March and today which is my favorite of all.  I instinctively asked “Really?” when it was described to us as it seemed a bit too good to be true.

Diamond guests staying at the Park Hyatt Tokyo are invited every evening from 5PM-7PM to a Manager’s Happy Hour.  As you reach the top floor, you can request the happy hour menu from the host.  From what I can tell there was no actual socializing with a Manager involved. It was basically getting a table for two hours where you and a guest enjoy unlimited free drinks in one of the priciest bars in the world.  Sign us up.

We worked the two hours into our schedule each evening after our days of sightseeing in Tokyo.  PMM always appreciates free drinks but add in a world class view and this offer is simply too good to refuse.  The servers caught on very quickly that we were ‘maximizing this benefit’ and helped us achieve our goal by never letting our glasses go dry.  If there are no bottles of Roederer Brut next time you visit the Park Hyatt Tokyo, you can thank Points, Miles and Martinis. Cheers!

The bottom line

It amazes me that a hotel which already offers best-in-chain Diamond guest benefits continues to add exciting benefits that add serious value to the stay. Well done, Park Hyatt Tokyo.

@christo – We arrived at 500PM sharp each day and had our pick of almost any table. There were no other Diamond guests indulging on this benefit. You are given a complimentary assortment of nuts per table to snack on. We ended up purchasing small apps from the menu.

WOW! Going there in a couple weeks, and this rocks! Can you confirm that all of the above discussed benefits apply to award stays? I assume yes since that is Hyatt’s standard policy for published Diamond program benefits.

@Gene – Yes. Enjoy your stay!

Darnit. I am going in may and my diamond expires feb 28. However I did use my chase suite upgrades to confirm 2 nights in a suite there for the may stay. Do you know if the perk is solely for diamonds or also applicable for those who booked suites as well?

Hi Al – Consider the Hyatt Diamond challenge.
