Bidding on Superbowl tickets with Delta miles is one way to burn through a large stock of Delta SkyMiles. I typically only see people use this many miles when they give up on finding low level award availability and finally book that Delta award to Hawaii. Don’t worry, I cancelled the Hawaii award ticket, it was more of a backup than anything.

Delta’s SkyMiles Auction site is auctioning off two tickets to “The Big Game” in New Orleans along with a Shannon Sharpe meet & greet and a $250 airline voucher.

  • Two (2) tickets for the professional football championship game in New Orleans on Sunday, February 3, 2013
  • One (1) $250 Delta travel voucher
  • Meet & greet with Shannon Sharpe on Saturday, February 2, 2013

The current bid is at 362,000, and I it won’t stop there. There are 48 bids and about 31 hours to go before the auction closes.

I can only imagine these bidders are out of their mind or looking for a way to burn SkyMiles. Superbowl tickets are going for about $2200 on Stub Hub, which is high, but 300,000 – 500,000 SkyMiles can be worth way more.

Superbowl Auction from Delta

I guess one lucky winner will walk away as a happy camper, either because they’ve scored a 10 minute autograph session with Shannon Sharpe or they just found a way to burn through a half million SkyMiles.

Everyone has their own value proposition for using points and miles. What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen done using points and miles?

Apparently paying my CC annual fee. I know it’s not the best value, but I get a fee credit and a hunk of miles every year anyway — might as well use those miles to pay the remainder not covered by the credit. Large redemptions always get more scrutiny.

Heya! I know this is kind of off-topic but I had to ask.
Does running a well-established blog such as yours require a large amount of work?
I’m completely new to running a blog but I do write in my journal on a daily basis. I’d like to start a blog so I can share
my personal experience and feelings online. Please let me
know if you have any recommendations or tips for new aspiring blog owners.
    Thankyou!
