Yes, this is a review of Waffle House’s waffles. We’ve done plenty of breakfast reviews from Park Hyatt hotels courtesy of Hyatt Diamond status. We figured why stop there.

Since Hyatt Diamond status won’t do you any good in small town America, we looked up the nearest Waffle House during a recent trip and stopped in to see how their waffles compare with the Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes that Gary from View From The Wing raves about.

I ordered a waffle, side of sausage patty, coffee and a diet coke. The order was delivered within a few moments and the total came out to $9 + change + tip.

The waffle clearly has four sections, which I quickly divided and conquered.

I prefer my waffles covered in syrup, only way in my opinion.

Bottom Line

Waffle house’s anytime menu is also great if you are craving a cheeseburger for breakfast or a waffle for dinner. Their waffles are prepared fast and will do the trick. But I still prefer my Hyatt Diamond Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes or homemade jelly filled donuts delivered to my room.

Just don’t pick the wrong waffle house in some areas and get reverse discrimination and ignored.

Best part about Waffle House is the hash browns.

I think you hit on an important point, the lack of Hyatt hotels (and Starwood, and sometimes Hilton/Marriott) in small town America. Hyatt Diamond status would be great, but earning it is nigh for those not near/in a big city.

    Hi Lu – No

Hi Chris B. – Thanks, that was my subtle message here. That most of the perks of staying at loyalty chains, free breakfast, upgrades don’t apply in small towns.

Hi Tenmoc – I agree, I like mine topped. You?

Hi Matt / captain obvious :) – Yes, they are different, and so are jelly donuts.

Gene – Me too. Is under rated and good for quick fix once in a blue moon.

Hi Mikey – This one took Ink Plus like a charm.

Neal – That is one way to order the hash. Sounds good.

Hi Carl – It’s good. There are others as good too.

Hi LC – Can’t go wrong, especially as a late night stop.

Hi Mikey – That hasn’t happened to me.

    Hi Paul – It’s so wrong it’s right :)

Gotta get the taters seven ways next time

  • Jason said,

Is anyone else wondering why it was so expensive? You can get the all-star special and a drink for less than $9, and that’s a heck of a lot more food.

[...] Living on the east coast I generally don’t frequent Alaska Airlines Board Rooms, but the access through the Priority Pass membership was nice. The first thing I noticed was the pancake machine. Really? This was going to be awesome. How many times can you make your own pancakes in an airline lounge. Who cares if they don’t taste as good as Waffle House waffles. [...]
