Delta and Starwood have teamed up to offer crossover rewards to their most loyal customers. Crossover rewards allows members to earn Delta SkyMiles when staying in Starwood Preferred Guest hotels and earn Starpoints when booking flights with Delta. The crossover reward program began on March 1, 2013, so don’t forget to register for both Delta and SPG crossover rewards, even if you aren’t a frequent customer of either program.

Delta Crossover Rewards

Starting March 1, 2013, Delta SkyMiles Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Silver Medallion members will earn 1 mile for every dollar they spend on eligible room rates at over 1,100 Starwood hotels and resorts globally. Plus, SkyMiles Diamond and Platinum Medallion members receive additional SPG benefits at Starwood hotels and resorts — 4 p.m. late checkout, access to the SPG elite check-in line, complimentary in-room Internet access and an upgrade to an enhanced room at check-in, when available.

Bottom Line

The crossover rewards is a great way to incentivize travel. I think this reward will benefit the frequent Delta flyer in particular. Imagine booking $8,000 Business Class tickets every few weeks. That would would a frequent flyer 8,000 Starpoints for that ticket booked on Delta. That’s a great reward for being loyal!
