Yet another lucrative targeted offer – Southwest/AirTran

Posted on: May 2nd, 2012 by: alex

Here comes yet another targeted offer from the airlines.  We have already seen targeted offers from United and US Airways over the last few days.  This time Southwest/AirTran are getting in on the action with a lucrative bonus.

The bottom line

This offer earns approximately 90USD in Wanna Get Away fare value per round trip on top of your standard earning. Reading through the terms and conditions there are no major exclusions other than “Only the A+ Rewards Member ( A+ Rewards Number: ) who received this e-mail/offer from AirTran A+ Rewards is eligible for this promotion.” The Register now link is NOT generic so there is no chance to try and see if you are eligible.  Is anyone else seeing this offer?  Are there variations of this offer?

Reluctant Luggage Change – From Briggs to Tumi

Posted on: April 20th, 2012 by: alex

It is a bittersweet day for me.  After 3 incredible years with my Briggs and Riley Baseline 22(?) inch carry-on, I finally need to retire her for domestic trips.  While I absolutely LOVE this bag, it is too long for 95% of Southwest overhead bins and thus I have to turn it sideways on most… continue reading

Changes To New Ink Bold 50,000 Offer Begin Tomorrow

Posted on: April 17th, 2012 by: The Weekly Flyer

A few weeks ago, I mentioned how the sky is not falling with the Chase credit card sign up bonuses. We shared how the New Ink Bold offer was staying at 50,000 points even though the Sapphire Preferred offer was being lowered to a 40,000 point offer. The current offer will be removed on Wednesday,… continue reading

Southwest’s Ridiculous Standby Policy

Posted on: March 10th, 2012 by: alex

OK, I’ll admit it.  I fly Southwest Airlines every week.  I have achieved A-List Preferred, their top tier elite status, as well as a holder of the lucrative Companion Pass. While international travel is my aspiration, I have tried and tried (and tried) to find a legacy carrier to get me from point A to… continue reading

The Delta – Southwest battle goes digital

Posted on: February 29th, 2012 by: alex

Satire intended – The battle between Southwest and Delta over Atlanta spilled over to the digital world when Southwest released a newly revamped iPhone app.  One can only assume Southwest was envious of Delta’s online award booking engine and needed to make a move.  Check out this new, highly intuitive interface for selecting cities on… continue reading

Alternate route to a Southwest Companion Pass

Posted on: February 17th, 2012 by: alex

Several bloggers have written about earning a 2012/2013 Southwest Companion Pass by signing up for the Chase Southwest Visa and Chase Business Southwest Visa. This is an excellent strategy and I can confirm from a reader’s experience that the 50,000 signup bonus points are posting as Companion Pass Qualifying Points as of this week.  However,… continue reading

Last minute travel on Southwest and Tim Tebow

Posted on: February 15th, 2012 by: alex

Last November I was traveling for business and had to book at the very last minute.  The only sub $700 fares to the DC area I could find were on Southwest  so I bit the bullet and purchased them.  I was quite surprised with the amount of points that ended up posting for this trip. … continue reading

Guest Post: Southwest Promotion in the works for Denver, Atlanta and California

Posted on: January 20th, 2012 by: alex

I logged into my Southwest Rapid Rewards account today to find an interesting and somewhat cryptic Promotion available for registration.  While this is not confirmed, it looks like all flights in or out of Southwest California, Denver, and Atlanta will be receiving double points and double TQ points.  The details and date range have not… continue reading
