Aloft To Asia – Singapore Fullerton Bay Rooftop Happy Hour

Posted on: November 19th, 2012 by: The Weekly Flyer

The Fullerton Bay hotel in Singapore sits on Singapore’s Marina Bay waterfront. With the city skyline behind it and the bay in front of it, the views from the rooftop bar are surreal for any first time visitor to Singapore.

The hotel was ranked as the third best new business hotel in Singapore in 2012 and the third in Asia Pacific. With the rooftop bar and pool, there was no way I’d miss a drink (or few) at the Lantern bar and lounge.

Trip Report Index

Fullerton Bay Hotel

The view of downtown Singapore light up night. You can see the old Fullerton Hotel in the distance. We started with a walk around the Marina and then headed to the Fullerton Bay Hotel near the central business district to quench our thirst with an overpriced drink and a great view of the bay.

Singapore Night View 2

The lobby of the hotel is well appointed with chandeliers for as far as the eye can see.

Singapore Fullerton Bay Lobby 2

Singapore Fullerton Bay Lobby

The lobby check-in area is a sight. The ceiling in this room was so high, I couldn’t get the picture in one shot. But this was all a distraction compared to our main reason to visit the hotel, which was the Lantern rooftop bar and pool.

Rooftop Lantern Bar And Pool

I made a reservation with a friend to secure a spot for our happy hour. The bar is located at the end of the pool, with seating around the pool for drinks in the evening. There is a small section for open seating, but it has no view.

I’d highly recommend making a reservation in advance if you plan to visit. Just call the Lantern bar at (65) 6597 5299 or email them at lanterngre@fullertonbayhotel.com. We had seat with great views of the marina and the city skyline.

Fullerton Bay Lantern Rooftop View

We could look up and see the skyline just behind us.

Fullerton Bay Lantern Rooftop Pool City View

Some would argue the Marina Bay Sands hotel has the best view, and they may be right. But it is pretty cool to see the Marina Bay Sands hotel for the first time from another vantage point in the Singapore skyline.

Singapore Fullerton Bay Rooftop Pool

There were plenty of seats, but a reservation is a must if you plan to visit the Fullerton Bay hotel during happy hour. The seat you see in the picture below was open for about 15 minutes then all of the seats in the area were full for the time we visited the rooftop bar.

How To Make An Imperial Berry Mojito And Caipirinha

The first drink we ordered was an Imperial Mojito followed by the Caipirinha.

Fullerton Bay Lantern Menu

How To Make An Imperial Berry Mojito

Fullerton Bay Imperial Mojito

  • Rum
  • Berries
  • Champagne
  • Mint
  • Served over crushed ice

How To Make An Caipirinha

Fullerton Bay Caipirinha

  • Cachaca
  • Lime
  • Sugar
  • Served over ice

Bottom Line

The views of the Marina Bay Sands offers great views of Singapore. But I would argue that it is a better sight to see the Marina Bay Sands hotel when sipping a drink than being at the Marina Bay Sands hotel itself. If you agree, check out the Fullerton Bay hotel rooftop bar Lantern next time you are in Singapore for an over priced great with a great view.
