Aloft To Asia – Singapore Business Class From Singapore To Seoul

Posted on: January 14th, 2013 by: The Weekly Flyer

I boarded flight 608 from Singapore to Seoul very much looking to stretching out in Singapore Air’s large, comfy Business Class seats. During my flight from Seoul to Singapore, I felt like two people could have sat in the seat, so I thought I’d get a full 5 or 6 hour rest before arriving in Seoul.

As I arrived at the plane, my only option was to turn right and when I did, I instantly knew I had made a mistake booking Singapore flight SQ 608 as opposed to SQ 16. SQ 608 is operated by a Singapore Air A330, this flight offers only regional business class and no first class. So my experience would be much different than my flight on SQ 15 from Seoul to Singapore, but still up to the standards of Singapore Airlines.

I walked down the long jetway and arrived to the A330 that would take me back to Seoul to catch a connecting flight in Korean Air Business Class.

Singapore Flight 16 Singapore To Incheon

The regional Business Class seats are configured 2-2-2. The seats are lie-flat at an angle. While comfortable, they aren’t as spacious as the 1-2-1 configuration on Singapore Air’s 777 Business Class.

Looking around after boarding I had the first row all to myself, and the Singapore Air flight attendant came by to suggest I spread out with two seats, one for sitting and one for sleeping. So I did just that. I settled into seats 1 H and 1K for the 6 and a half hour flight back to Seoul.

The cabin was almost empty except for two other gentleman. One was seated directly behind me and the other was in the middle left of the plane. This flight can’t be very popular when Business Class goes out with only 3 passengers.

The in-flight entertainment was mounted in front of seats 1 H and 1 K. I didn’t use it except to keep track of the flight map and arrival into Seoul.

I took the two seats next to the window. My strategy was to use the window seat for viewing out of the window while using the aisle to catch a few hours of sleep.

As you can see the first row was completely empty for the entire flight.

The flight attendant offered a pre-departure drink and I asked for a club soda. He offered a lemon and I obliged. It was a refreshing drink after a night of cocktails at the Fullerton Bay hotel in Singapore.

I dosed off after departure and woke up as we were a couple of hours outside of Seoul. Since this was an early morning departure, breakfast was served prior to arrival into Seoul.

IMG_2490

I selected the fresh fruit and cereal breakfast. The breakfast came with warm croissant, jam, butter, yogurt, fruit and cereal. I went with orange juice, coffee and a water to drink.

IMG_2486

Even the Singapore Airlines napkins have holes. This is great for flights where you want a little extra protection from food, but for breakfast, I didn’t need it.

IMG_2489

I had some great views looking east from seat 1 K.

More views looking east before descending into Seoul Incheon.

After landing, I headed to the transfer desk to pick up my Korean Airlines Business Class boarding pass. Since I had several hours to kill before departing in Korean Air Business Class, I headed into the Korean Air Business Class Lounge to freshen up and see what the lounge had to offer.
