Frontier Airlines is greatly expanding service from Princeton/Trenton Mercer Airport (TTN).
From January 31 to February 2, the inaugural roundtrip flights to New Orleans, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers and Tampa depart, and existing Orlando service increases from 2x/week to 4x/week:
- New Orleans (MSY): 1x Mon, Fri
- Fort Lauderdale (FLL): 1x Mon, Wed, Sat
- Fort Myers (RSW): 1x Sun, Thu
- Orlando, FL (MCO): Sun, Tue, Wed, Fri
- Tampa, FL (TPA): 1x, Tue, Thu, Sat

These flights are great point-to-point getaway options for the densely populated central NJ residents that typically face the unpleasant choices of Newark or Philadelphia. It is only 1 mile from the West Trenton SEPTA station, and just over 5 miles from the Trenton Station served by Amtrak, SEPTA, and NJ Transit trains and buses.
Frontier’s hub in Denver is not served out of Princeton so convenient connection options are limited, though there are some roundabout possibilities from their mini-hub in Orlando.
The award chart is very reasonable, in theory you can get all the way to Alaska for 20,000 miles, and 30,000 miles for Mexico/Central America/Caribbean.
Yes, there are credit cards, the personal Frontier Airlines World MasterCard has a 35,000 mile offer (ignore anyone claiming it is a 45,000 offer, that last 10,000 is for balance transfer and a bad deal), and the business Frontier Airlines BusinessCard offers 25,000 miles. When accompanied by a paid ticket, a credit card holders can book a companion award for a 5,000 mile discount. Million Mile Secrets has a much more comprehensive review than mine.
American Express Membership Rewards transfer to Frontier 1:1, which is another option to fund an EarlyReturns account.
What is the Frontier experience like? Sorry, I have no idea.

I liked Frontier quite a bit and would fly them frequently if they served my home airport. Standard coach seating and service with some options for good prices. I liked Frontier a lot! Far better than Southwest IMO as a regional airline. However they are ending service to my home airport (SMF) and I’m ticked I have miles that will be “stranded” with them. C’est la vie.
Frontier is not bad. It’s kinda like a cross between SW and Alaska. It’s like SW in that it is only one class of service but with assigned seats. Seats all have TV’s for an extra fee unless your elite. I’ve had good trips with Frontier except I have noticed they seem to always have minor delays, like 20 minutes here, 30 minutes there, etc. I wish they would expand more in STL although they have picked it up some.
Is this former Midwest Express? If that is the case, then I give them two thumbs up. Loved them flying to Wisconsin, and those fresh baked cookies are always a treat. Thanks for this update.
