What’s In My Liquids Bag? Updated!

a white tube with a dropperA year ago, I gave you all a list of my favorite travel toiletries. It was a good list, I still use a lot of those products. However, due to some evolutions in my beauty routine, as well as some updates on what is considered a liquid by the TSA, the contents of my liquids bag has changed.

What’s the same:

What’s new:

  • Eminence Lemon Face Cleanser. Love, love this stuff! Smells amazing, made from all organic ingredients, and works great. I keep it in a contact lens case and refill it every couple of trips.
  • Aveda Tinted Moisturizer. It’s perfect, really–light, creamy, works great, and has SPF. I also keep this in a contact lens case.
  • Lotion. Now that my Rosemary Mint has run out (sob) I just use whatever is available–usually one from a hotel.
  • Prive Concept Vert Shampoo and Conditioner. This is the best. shampoo. ever. I am doing a full review next week, suffice it to say it will make your hair soft and lovely and the packaging is too cool.
  • L’Oreal Eye Makeup Remover. Now that I’ve got so many things in contact lens cases, I have freed up a lot of room in my bag. So now I can carry eye makeup remover with me, instead of using moisturizer.

What’s not in there anymore:

I actually carry three extra contact lens cases with me these days, with face wash, makeup remover, and moisturizer in them. This bag holds everything I need for my full beauty routine, with space leftover. I am one happy traveler!

Readers, what’s your favorite travel toiletry item?

Comments

  1. Just a question – why do you keep the cleansing cloths in your liquids bag? I would think that even if they are moistened cleansing cloths you could keep them in a ziploc in your regular bag (not in liquids). Have you found this to be an issue?

  2. My favorite travel toiletry item is Christophe Professional Volumizing Spray Tonic. It comes in a tiny spray bottle that never leaks and it replaces the full-sized volumizing mousse that I use every day. (I guess it should go without saying that I have hair volume issues). My local CVS does an excellent job of keeping these travel-size bottles in stock.

On a semi-related note, thank you for the update on the TSA’s policy on contact lenses! Since then, I have packed my contact lens solution and cleaner in a separate “medically necessary liquids” ziplock bag (along with a copy of the TSA’s medically necessary liquids policy, in case I ever get any resistance from an uninformed TSA agent). So far, I haven’t had any trouble getting through security with my two Ziplock bags (1 for toiletries, 1 for “medically necessary liquids”) and I actually look forward to traveling light now.

  3. I have a question. Why are you carrying body wash with you? I’ve never been to a hotel that didn’t provide this. Shampoo too, but I understand that people want to use their own shampoo. But why carry body wash?

  4. Most hotels I’ve been to provide bars of soap, but not body wash. I prefer body wash, and I love the one I use at home because it smells amazing.
What hotels are you staying in that provide body wash? Maybe I need to stay there!!
