I travel with epi pens, injectable Enbrel, a nebulizer and assorted other meds. I have always carried a letter from my physician, but haven't ever been asked for it. Traveling with the Enbrel in a chill pack sometimes gets additional screening, but not much. I honestly have gotten less screening overseas than I do in the US.

Happens all the time to me... I always rent from Hertz but I guess 50% of the time I have to argue with them about the fuel charges....Earlier I did not bother to check the receipt but the same thing happened to me when they billed approx. 1000 miles on my receipt.... and charged me for the full tank even though I returned the car 7/8 full....Since them I have been checking the receipt and has saved me a lot of bucks...

Two months ago I caught a mistake when the quoted rental rate (special discount through their website) wasn't what they charged me. I happened to have a hardcopy of the confirmation email with me, and they fixed the problem on the spot.

I've rented at a variety of places over the past few years and I've had similar issues. One time I even caught an issue, brought it up with the agent at the desk and he said his system was down, but assured me it would be fixed. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and needed to catch our flight, so I left. As soon as we landed I called to get it straightened out....They fixed it, eventually.

Here's an extra tip: Wear an extra coat as you pass through security. Maybe even an extra layer of clothing underneath. Fill the pockets with any extra things you want to carry.

Then, once you're past checkin / security, just take the coat off. You now have an extra "carry on."

Kind of cheesy I know, but being able to sneak just a little bit of extra stuff on board has been useful at times.

I have traveled quite a bit since starting to use a CPAP machine a year ago. My ONLY problem is with getting distilled water through security. I even asked a TSA agent yesterday, what can I do about this problem? He suggested I just tell the officers I am diabetic. One, that is not true, and two, I am not sure that will explain why I have unlabeled water in a water bottle. I am kicking myself that I did not save the 1.5 liter rugged and LABELED Aqua Distallata bottle that I bought in Spain last September. Unfortunately, here in the US, the distilled water only seems to be sold in gallon bottles. Even in Spain, I got hassled one time by security with the labeled bottle, the officer told me I needed a Dr's note, but he'd "let me go this time". BTW, I have never had a problem with the CPAP machine though. I did get asked to put my short rolling bag in a sizer for the very first time yesterday as well, but when I showed the TSA officer that amongst my other stuff I had my CPAP machine, he backed off though. I love the machine, but hate the added hassle with security.

I have quite a few Scottevest jackets and I usually put them at my feet or in the overhead. There isn't a problem putting your jacket in the overhead after it is full with wheeled bags. Then, you put your jacket in all the extra space.

The most annoying thing about that article was at the end where (expectedly) the person said that most fliers would like to pay more for their tickets so they could have no bag fees. I think if an honest poll was taken it would show that very few agree with that. Hell, I am a 1P on UA and I rarely check bags even though it is completely free.
