This person is clearly not an FTer

Posted on: December 12th, 2007 by: The Gate

An FTer would not have almost died after drinking a litre of vodka to comply with liquid rules at an airport. The canny FTer would have packaged up in 100ml bottles in a clear 1litre bag to take through security. Read the comments on the thread.

Board the wrong plane?

Fess up, you are not alone even among FTers. Check out the discussion to find out how this can happen to anyone.

Who says we’re obsessed with miles?

A “Do Not Disturb” Sign While in Flight?

Posted on: December 9th, 2007 by: Brian Cohen

Having a Do Not Disturb sign while a passenger on an aircraft seems like a good idea, although it should be rather obvious whether or not the passenger wants to be disturbed at all. For example, if the passenger is sleeping, it is a rather safe bet that that passenger wishes not to be disturbed.

Then again, does the Do Not Disturb sign work at hotels?

Read all about this idea posted by FlyerTalk member Philoj – but please do not disturb Philoj whilst posting in the I want a “Do Not Disturb” sign while flying thread.

By the way, is turb the opposite of disturb? If so, is it possible to turb, or intentionally bother, someone?

Travelling on British Airways to/through/from London Gatwick?

If so, then you should read this thread about cancellations, delays and transfers to other airlines.

How Much Have You Profited From FlyerTalk?

Posted on: December 6th, 2007 by: Brian Cohen

Better yet, what is your idea or definition of profiting from FlyerTalk?

Is it all of the extra miles and points you earned because of FlyerTalk?

Is it all of the money you have saved because of FlyerTalk?

Some FlyerTalk members find that they cannot place a value on all of the new friends that they have met all over the world, all because of FlyerTalk.

Please post your thoughts, as well as read the thoughts of others, in the How much have you made from Flyertalk? thread.

Now That’s Weird!

Posted on: December 4th, 2007 by: Brian Cohen

Pack extra ketchup, Earl Gray tea bags, condoms, a clothesline and scented candles in your carry-on baggage. Lug a body pillow with you. Bring your own bed sheets, deodorant for the rental car, plastic suction-cup hooks, a stuffed animal and a shirt belonging to your husband with his scent still lingering on it. Carry fresh flowers and family photographs large enough to cover the pictures in your hotel room. Read entries from that notorious “weblog” called The Gate.

Well, the last item I obviously just added myself, but if this partial list posted by fellow FlyerTalk members of Weird stuff you do to make your stay more comfortable does not intrigue you enough to read the thread, then I do not know what will and leads me to conclude that you are probably weird too.

So…Where ARE You From???

Posted on: December 3rd, 2007 by: Brian Cohen

Perhaps you do not mind being asked that question, but FlyerTalk member Droneklax minds – perhaps even more so than being asked how his FlyerTalk name is pronounced.

Hint: It is not pronounced drone-klax.

Of course, somebody had to ask the obvious question, so it may as well be FlyerTalk member cptango.

Please read the I hate it when people ask me “where are you from”? thread for anecdotes, experiences and explanations from other FlyerTalk members who like to accent-uate the discussion.

Do the “Bump”: What’s the Secret to Booking on Oversold Flights?

Posted on: December 2nd, 2007 by: Brian Cohen

This classic FlyerTalk thread discusses ways to get “bumped” from an aircraft in order to obtain credit vouchers on future flights on the airline from which you were “bumped”, as well as extra incentives and benefits such as bonus miles and points, free meals and free lodging.

This question was asked when the thread was first launched back in 2003. Is it any easier or more difficult to score a “bump” from an airline today, and have the rules changed?

Please read the thread and find out.
