“Your flight is fully booked” is code for “flight is cancelled” was the message freofan got (thanks to FT and no thanks to the airline in question) when asking about a flight a month away. In the absence of decent call centre standards, perhaps an FT guide to call centres would be useful? There could be sections on such topics as
- hang up and try again
- call centres to avoid and ones to call, even if it costs you more
- magic words to say to get the response you want
- deciphering call centre lingo
- Netherlands is in Norway or how to clue up clueless reps

Can you solve the latest mystery in the American AAdvantage forum?
American AAdvantage FlyerTalk members are attempting to figure out what Lifetime – Coming Soon means. It was found at the Internet web site of American Airlines.
Naturally, speculation — and a sense of humor — abounds in that thread.
If you have the clues to crack this case wide open, please post in the Lifetime – Coming Soon thread.

These threads are just the tip of the iceberg as to what you will find staying afloat in the Cruises forum.
On second thought, I sea now that I probably should listened to my initial n-ocean and not have put it that way. I might get a wave of comments as a result, but I figured, what the hull…

FlyerTalk member artemis021 booked reservations for a group of hotel rooms at a special negotiated rate. However, the dates needed to be changed, and artemis021 was told that it would not be a problem for the rate to be used for the hotel rooms for the later dates, provided that the sooner the reservation changes were made, the better.
The reservation was not made by the time artemis021 called back, and now artemis021 cannot secure the original negotiated room rate for the block of hotel rooms.
Did the hotel renege on its word regarding not honoring the negotiated special hotel room rate? You decide by reading the Reneg on rate thread.

Did you know that your passport may not be valid in certain countries even though the expiration date will have not yet arrived by the time you have completed all of your travels?
In fact, did you know that it may be possible to travel by other means into a country, such as via bus, train or boat, but not via airplane with a passport whose date is close to expiration?
FlyerTalk member avflyer warns other FlyerTalk members based on experience in the Passport Heads Up – Don’t Get Too Close To Expiration Date thread.

No, I am not talking about Nice as in pleasant.
I am talking about Nice as in the French city.
When dbaseworking asked about traveling from Nice, France to Barcelona, Spain, FlyerTalk members were wondering why dbaseworking simply did not take a train instead – or, more importantly, get a cheap flight.
For those who are on a tight budget and want to know the best way to get from Nice to Barcelona – or from Barcelona to Nice – please see the Nice to Barcelona by Bus thread.
As one will see, the cost of the fare is not the only factor in play here as to determine which mode of transportation is the best value for the money – and there is no definitive answer, as it depends on one’s point of view, as well as the factors and circumstances that influence the decision…

FlyerTalk member Medic1 had a dilemma: he started dating this wonderful woman who has a great job, is a sweetheart, and is absolutely drop-dead beautiful.
Things seemed to be perfect, but there was only one problem:
She informed him that she will not fly.
That revelation did not fly with Medic1, although she did let him know that she was more than happy if he traveled alone without her.
He had to make a decision between his otherwise-perfect girlfriend and travel. Which do you believe he chose?
He chose to -

How would you feel if you were informed that your passport is not considered to be a valid document of identification issued by the government of the country in which you are a citizen?
What would you say if you were told that the Netherlands is located in Norway – and you are a citizen of the Netherlands?
What would you then do if you offered your driver’s license as proof of identification, only to be told that that form of identification is not valid either?
Some FlyerTalk members who read the You don’t need a visa to go to Vegas…. thread have already posted that they do not know whether they should laugh or cry. Perhaps you should read this thread for further details and judge for yourself – just make sure that you have your passport and driver’s license with you when you read the thread.
Also, please ensure that you dress warmly when going to Amsterdam. It is still quite cold in Scandinavia this time of year…
