20€ for a Four-Minute Telephone Call!

Posted on: July 19th, 2009 by: Brian Cohen

If you want to place a long-distance telephone call from your hotel room, you may want to think twice.

The hang-up for FlyerTalk member BRUGUY is that he placed a telephone call whose duration was almost four minutes from his hotel room at the JW Marriott in Bangkok and was charged 935 Thai Bhat, or nearly 20 Euro. Those charges were certainly wrong numbers to BRUGUY.

We at The Gate will guarantee that you will never get a dial tone or busy signal — nor will you be charged any money — when attempting to access the Never ever make an intl call from JW Marriott BKK thread, where the details of the telephone call, as well as BRUGUY being the receiver of the reactions, opinions and commentary of other FlyerTalk members have been posted.

I’m Hungry. I’m in the Mood for Some Canadian Tonight…

Posted on: July 18th, 2009 by: Brian Cohen

Is there really such a thing as a Canadian Restaurant?

If so, what kind of food would it serve, eh? What would distinguish a Canadian restaurant from other types of restaurants, such as Italian, Greek, Chinese or Japanese? Other than obviously in Canada, where would one find a Canadian Restaurant?

The Lufthansa status match for Italians was extended a couple of times but is now over. However in a crazy blitz, there are several more Lufthansa status match offers in Europe – including Czech Republic, Finland, Portugal, Russia and Spain.

Now and then, The Gate posts a quote which is worthy of being repeated here.

Today, the quote is as follows:

“I would pass on attending my own funeral to be a part of this!”

It seems as though this person is really excited, and that is an understatement.

Who said this, and why?

…or, perhaps vice versa.

Take a gander at the And I thought I had seen it all….. White Goose takes a seat on board a DL flight thread to see one instance where one’s goose is not cooked after all.

FlyerTalk member berlinflyer earned a feather in his cap for posting down this fowl story that would typically be for the birds…
