Hilton Offers a Free Night Worldwide, but Not Everyone Gets It

Hilton Hotels Corporation offers New redemption levels plus a free night, apparently to help mitigate the devaluation of Hilton HHonors points as of January 2010, as first reported by The Gate with the Confirmed: Details Regarding Changes in Redemptions of Hilton HHonors Points for Reward Stays — and the News is Not Good and Increased Hilton HHonors Points Required for Reward Redemption as of January 2010 entries.

However, FlyerTalk members who are also Hilton HHonors members have been reporting receiving via e-mail a free night valid at many Hilton hotel properties worldwide, while others are left wondering if this is a trick or a treat as they have not received a free night and are not sure as to what is the reason…

When Does 10€ Equal US$67?

According to FlyerTalk member iahphx,“My “10 Euro” Ryanair ticket cost $67!

No, there were no added optional services or hidden fees; rather, the lopsided trade in money by Ryanair may have been caused by a phenomenon known as “dynamic currency conversion.”

Is this practice allegedly used by Ryanair legitimate or deceptive, or did iahphx simply not do his due diligence in researching the fees associated with the airfare which he paid? What exactly is the explanation for the apparently unfair currency conversion?

FlyerTalk member ArizonaRoadWarrior believes that a new low has been reached when the newspaper which ArizonaRoadWarrior was going to read on the five-hour flight suddenly disappeared — not to mention the name of a company and its telephone number that had been written on one of the pages of the newspaper.

Apparently, allegedly stealing reading materials while aboard an aircraft is more common than one may think or believe…

The Gate first broke the news about Increased Hilton HHonors Points Required for Reward Redemption as of January 2010 on October 12.

Not only has the news been confirmed in the Official Post from Hilton HHonors, 2010 Hotel Category and Point Redemption Changes, but the news is so bad for many FlyerTalk members that they posted the Consequence of HHONORS Devaluation: Commitments to Take our Business Elsewhere — and FlyerTalk members intend to defect from the Hilton HHonors frequent guest loyalty program in droves.
