If you want to fly free to Queenstown on Air New Zealand, simply participate in the Sky High Shave event on 27 June 2010.
However, try not to lose your hair regarding the following restrictions, including:
- The flight to Queenstown on 27 June 2010 must originate in Auckland on the designated Air New Zealand ‘Sky High Shave’ flight where all passengers and crew will have their head shaved to support the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation. Sorry, your free flight cannot originate in Los Angeles, London or Buenos Aires.
- Air New Zealand recommends you raise a minimum of NZ$100.00 for the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation.
- The return flight from Queenstown to Auckland is not free. Any scheduled flight between 27 June and 4 July 2010 — designed to coincide with the duration of the Queenstown Winter Festival — are available at the special price of NZ$150.00 upon request.

Regarding a way of travel called Couchsurfing – have you used it?
The way it apparently works, CouchSurfing is a worldwide network for making connections between travelers and the local communities they visit by staying on someone’s couch or spare room instead of at a hotel, hostel or even backpacking.
While it is certainly not for everyone, it is indeed an economical alternative to more traditional methods of staying overnight in a locale away from home — plus, as a bonus, one can get a more intimate local perspective on the people, the housing, and the quality of life in that locale. Then again, this is sleeping on the couch in the home of a complete stranger — and “CouchSurfers” may also reciprocate by offering their couches to complete strangers.
Could the CouchSurfing method of budget travel be for you?

After watching the Video of the Turkey Dog, one has to wonder whether or not Continental Airlines is on a roll with food that can cut the mustard, or rather if passengers will relish the day when free meals aboard Continental Airlines flights will become nothing more than a distant memory…

If you are traveling to anywhere in the world other than Europe and think you will not have flight delays or problems due to the recent volcanic eruptions from the Eyjafjallajokul volcano in Iceland, think again as the Pacaya volcano in Guatemala in Central America and the Tungurahua volcano in Ecuador in South America erupted today.
Here are three FlyerTalk threads already dealing with the volcano in Guatemala, with more threads surely to be launched in the near future:

Notwithstanding the question regarding the comfort of a seat on an Embraer ERJ-145 regional jet aircraft, how could a Sleeping Passenger Left On Plane For Hours At PHL not be noticed by the crew on an aircraft that can seat a maximum of 50 passengers?
The passenger in question slept for greater than three hours on the aircraft after the short flight from Washington, D.C. arrived at the gate in Philadelphia before she was finally discovered by a cleaning crew.
While there are many questions still yet to be answered regarding this incident, it is hopeful that she at least saved some money on lodging that evening…

A NJ man accused of sex assault on jet could face possible jail time for allegedly reaching under the blanket of the woman while she was sleeping in her seat and touching her inappropriately. The female passenger was awakened by a passenger seated behind her kicking her seat to bring about awareness to her regarding the disturbing situation in progress. The victim then reportedly alerted the flight crew of the incident.
The 63-year-old man was detained when the aircraft landed in Newark after a flight from Hong Kong.

FlyerTalk is all about the discussion of miles and points. However, there are FlyerTalk members who prefer to stay at independent hotels where they may have a unique experience at each property. The only problem is that staying at such hotels did not earn points, usually because there was no frequent guest loyalty program…
…until now.
Introducing a New loyalty scheme for US independent hotels that was launched recently called Stash Hotel Rewards, in which membership is complimentary. There are currently 65 independent properties in 50 cities in the United States, with possibly 200 properties participating by the end of the year.
Five Stash points are earned for every dollar spent on eligible room rates. A member will reportedly be able to earn a free night after five stays at Stash partner Hotels. Among other features and benefits, Stash Hotel Rewards members can earn points by booking hotels for others — an unusual feature for a frequent guest loyalty program — and can book up to two eligible rooms for the same dates and earn points on both of them.
