Apparently, the practice of reaching for that newspaper in front of the hotel room door without wearing clothes is more commonplace than one might think.
Variations of this practice also include reaching for the Do Not Disturb sign on the outside doorknob of the hotel room door and placing a room service tray that is no longer needed outside of the hotel room off to the side of the door.
However, FlyerTalk members — both male and female — reveal the naked truth and admit to being caught partaking in this practice.
Addressing the dressing issue, some FlyerTalk members suggest that robes are supplied for the express purpose of situations such as the Naked newspaper grab, but what if the lodging establishment does not supply one and the guest forgets or neglects to bring one? Do they exclaim “Oh, shirt!!!” after panting for a solution in panic?

For those of you who enjoy hamburgers, here is something about which you may be interested if you did not already know about Wendy’s perpetual hamburger.
It seems that all you need to do is look at the back of a Wendy’s receipt where it says “Tell us about your visit…” Then, take the survey and get the code. Put the code on your receipt and get a regular hamburger and another receipt. Put the same code on the second receipt and get another burger. Repeat.
It has yet to be determined whether or not “Repeat” is in reference to completing the above instructions again or if that is simply a physical gastronomic reaction to eating a hamburger from a fast-food restaurant. Regardless, FlyerTalk members report similar “perpetual” offers from such fine dining establishments as Arby’s and Burger King…

Unfortunately, the story of All 152 dead in Islamabad plane crash has people around the world mourning this tragic loss of life.
The Airbus A321 aircraft of Airblue, a private commercial airline, crashed into the Margalla mountains in Islamabad after being denied landing on its first approach to Islamabad Airport, apparently due to foggy conditions and flight traffic. The flight originated in Manchester with stops in Turkey and Karachi.
An investigation is pending.

Many FlyerTalk members are livid about the new Drink coupon changes coming August 1, 2010 on Southwest Airlines:
- Flight attendants will no longer accept expired drink coupons
- Current drink coupons that do not carry expiration dates will inherit an August 31, 2011 expiration date
- Business Select drink coupons will be valid on the day of travel only
Suddenly the hoards of coupons possessed by FlyerTalk members became worthless, and many FlyerTalk members are lamenting the general direction Southwest Airlines seems to be taking in terms of its reportedly storied customer service reputation — as compared to other domestic airlines in the United States, at least — slowly eroding…

If you prefer to use the Internet to take advantage of offers and promotions, you are not going to like this one where you can earn 500 free Dividend Miles for not requesting a life insurance quote, because you must request your 500 US Airways Dividend Miles the old-fashioned way: via postcard, which will cost all of 28¢ plus the postcard itself and the ink or lead used to write on the postcard. The 500 US Airways Dividend Miles are expected to be added to your Dividend Miles account within six to eight weeks.
Rather, is it worth it to request the free life insurance quote electronically for those same 500 US Airways Dividend Miles, as it is purportedly less expensive and quicker, as the 500 US Airways Dividend Miles are expected to be added to your Dividend Miles account within four to six weeks? You decide if you intend to take advantage of this offer, but do it before the offer expires on August 31, 2010.

It appears as though Delta Ground Staff BBQ near plane/under gate A7 tonight… — or, more accurately, on a Sunday evening in July.
The food surely looks good. Chicken, perhaps?
Anyway, is it fowl for these workers to prepare their own meal outside at the airport? Why are some FlyerTalk members posting “flames” about this? Should these workers be fired? How did they get that huge grill — along with the necessary fuel — past airport security in the first place?

As you are sitting at your table in a restaurant, hungry and ready to eat, the last thing you want to do as your order is being taken is to have your waiter suddenly answer his mobile telephone and complete the call before concluding with taking your order — and without any apology or sincerity.
Are there any circumstances where this unfortunate choice of action by the waiter would be excusable?
Find out the name of the actual restaurant where one might be compelled to say “waiter, please turn off your cell phone!”

Hilton Worldwide has reportedly sent the following e-mail message to Hilton HHonors members:
Hilton HHonors supports the National Coalition for the Homeless as they engage in public education, policy advocacy, and grassroots organizing focusing on the following four areas: housing justice, economic justice, health care justice, and civil rights.
If you would like to support the effort, we have arranged for HHonors members to be able to donate points to support this cause.
For every 10,000 points you donate, we’ll send US$25 to the National Coalition for the Homeless. If you would like to join us in supporting this organization in their determination to battle homelessness by donating points, please visit us here…
Why, then, are Hilton HHonors FlyerTalk members upset and even outraged over what appears to be a charitable gesture on the part of Hilton?
Find out in the Take hh points off our books in the name of homelessness thread for details.

You may be able to obtain Free lodging in China — if you speak English.
To qualify for this offer, lodgers must speak at least two hours of English a day in return for their keep while their Chinese hosts can learn for free from a resident live-in English teacher. That requirement sounds simple enough.
However, FlyerTalk member skaven says, “Neat idea. However, decent hostels can be found in China for sub $10/night, even in tourist cities like Beijing, Xian and Shanghai. Cool if you want to connect with the locals, but 2 hours of English tutoring to save $10 seems like really low pay.”
With that perspective, this deal may not be as good as it may originally seem…

Does ordering a 12-year-old girl through an airport body scanner without parental consent constitute as child pornography, or sexual assault against a minor?
Some FlyerTalk members argue that having the body of a 12-year-old girl exposed by an airport checkpoint full body scanner is no different than taking a photograph of the same girl nude, as her entire naked body is reportedly exposed. Is this scenario exacerbated when this is done without parental consent? Does the child suffer from trauma as a result of the experience? Is this situation considered a strip search?
Please see the Mom upset about daughter’s full body security scan experience [merged threads] thread for details on this controversial discussion.
