…but what was her response?
See the incredibly unique way that FlyerTalk member kimchi39 asked his girlfriend to marry him with A special marriage proposal from New York and Seoul, and read the reactions posted by other FlyerTalk members.
This is a trip report you will not want to miss, as it contains a narrative written straight from the heart, as well as photographs of travelers in New York from the United States and other countries who wrote in several different languages to convince the girlfriend to say “yes” and marry kimchi39 — and there is even a link to a video.

As reported by The Gate back on August 28, 2010, Mexicana ceased flight operations…
…so what do unemployed flight attendants do in the meantime to support themselves?
Well, in this case, Broke Mexicana stewardesses launch racy calendar.
The results are so successful that the first run of the calendar sold out before it was even launched…
…and yes, there are links to the story — including pictures…

…there are Smoking Lounges — at least, at various airports.
Seeing those poor individuals crammed into what appears to be smoke-filled glass cages could cause them to be the butt of bad jokes — and it is enough to choke up a lot of people.
While there are those who may reminisce for the days where there used to be smoking sections on airplanes, view how FlyerTalk members vent on the lack of ventilation in airport smoking lounges, as well as how they breathe a sigh of relief for those smoking areas located outside at airports…

Airlines currently do not provide nutrition information with the food served on-board aircraft during flights — but should one know how much vitamin C is in one’s orange juice, how many calories are in that steak dinner with the ice cream sundae for dessert, or what is the sodium content of that bag of peanuts? Is it even necessary?
That is some food for thought on which you can chew while you digest what FlyerTalk members post in this thread…

FlyerTalk member SanDiego1K has been announced as the community director of FlyerTalk effective January 1, 2011, replacing founder Randy Petersen, who recently announced his resignation.
In preparation for her role as community director of FlyerTalk, Carol — as she is known by her real name — has already resigned from her volunteer position as moderator of the Starwood Preferred Guest forum and will resign as Senior Moderator once she is officially appointed as community director.
We at The Gate wish both Randy and Carol all of the best in their future endeavors.

Today may be Thanksgiving holiday in the United States, but FlyerTalk members discuss the merits of bacon, including expressing their preference of soft bacon versus crisp bacon, thick bacon versus thin bacon, how to properly cook bacon, what types of bacon there is to eat, descriptions of different kinds of bacon from around the world, and with what other foods bacon should be eaten.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of our American readers of The Gate!

Nine Miami International Airport skycap employees were arrested after a nine-month investigation allegedly revealed that they stole cash by charging passengers overweight baggage fees when they should not have done so.
Additionally, as a result of under-reporting the amount of luggage loaded onto aircraft, the skycaps supposedly endangered the lives of American Airlines passengers due to the risk of improper records to ensure that the weight of the aircraft is balanced.
More arrests associated with this reported scam are expected.

The amenity kits distributed in the economy class cabin on Qantas flights are apparently an environmental hazard because of the plastic used, and they are reportedly used by too few passengers.
However, some passengers see the amenity kits as a souvenir of their trip.
Should the amenity kits only be given to passengers upon request, or is it Time to abolish amentiy kits altogether?

You read that correctly: are Airline Security Fees to Increase in the United States?
If so, the Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, has impeccable timing.
The Travel Safety/Security forum on FlyerTalk is already inundated with a significant increase in traffic as a result of the Transportation Security Administration, which is already under public scrutiny for considering and implementing questionable, controversial and invasive airport security screening procedures with the enhanced pat-down policy if an airline passenger declines being screened by a full-body scanner.
To now considering requesting airline passengers to pay for the privilege is sending some FlyerTalk members “over the edge,” so to speak…

Furious Ryanair passengers protest in plane as French passengers expecting to arrive home in Paris from Morocco staged a protest for four hours in a dark cabin with no water and locked lavatories on-board a Ryanair aircraft after their flight was diverted to Belgium, apparently as a result of weather conditions and a three-hour delay.
Ryanair crew members simply left the aircraft, leaving the angry passengers alone to fend for themselves.
The passengers finally left the aircraft in the early morning hours of the next day after they were provided with buses to transport them on the approximately 300 kilometer trip from Belgium to France.
