Priority Club “Win It In A Minute” Game Abruptly Ends

Posted on: February 27th, 2011 by: Brian Cohen

Those who have been hoping to win Priority Club points in the “Win it in a minute” trivia challenge game through April 15, 2011 are out of luck, as the promotion has abruptly ended as of February 25, 2011 due to some technical issues that have been identified with the trivia challenge, that those issues are beyond the control of the sponsor, and that the sponsor feels the issues “have impaired the proper functioning of the contest.”

Every day, the 50 participants who accrued the highest score in a day won 5,000 Priority Club points; while every week, the 100 participants who accrued the highest score for that week won 15,000 Priority Club points. However, there were major flaws in the trivia challenge that allegedly allowed for rampant cheating to occur, which could not be resolved satisfactorily.

Those official winners who have legitimately won Priority Club points during the trivia challenge will receive their awards within three to four weeks.

Who does not want beef in the bibimbap

And asking was difficult to refrain

About banchan components on the plane

Her flight companion, worth more than gold

Is her daughter, who is eighteen months old

Alaska Representative to be Showered with Flowers — and You Can Join In

Posted on: February 23rd, 2011 by: Brian Cohen

Frequent travelers must encounter airport security checkpoints wherever they go if they want to be passengers on commercial aircraft, but many are reticent about their feelings once at the airport regarding the perceived invasive procedures instituted by the Transportation Security Administration, or TSA.

However, there are exceptions, as FlyerTalk members are purchasing Flowers for Rep. Sharon Cissna because she refused an “invasive” pat-down search at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport security checkpoint — and everyone is welcome to join in on showering her with flowers. The Anchorage Democrat was singled out as the result of a security checkpoint scan showing suspicious features which were actually scars from a recent mastectomy.

Having submitted to such a search in the past and vowing never to endure it again, Cissna was denied entry past the security checkpoint as a result of her refusal of a pat-down, forcing her to drive back to Juneau from Seattle, saying that the freedom of travel should “never come at the price of basic human dignity and pride.”

In her excused absence as she travels back to Juneau, the Alaska state House voted 36-2 to adopt that very sentiment.

Death in Airport Bathroom Raises Question: Should More of the Funds Being Spent on Security Be Used For Safety?

Posted on: February 20th, 2011 by: Brian Cohen

When a Passenger Dies in Bathroom – No Medics arrived in time to save the life of a 39-year-old woman who was reportedly unable to breathe — the question about whether or not at least part of the amount of money being spent on Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, personnel could be spent more wisely on funding more emergency response personnel and equipment at domestic airports in the United States is being raised.

The mother, on her way to visit her son to celebrate his birthday, supposedly waited in a restroom at Philadelphia International Airport nearly 40 minutes until medical treatment finally arrived — albeit reportedly too late to save her life.

Could this tragedy have been prevented?

Delta SkyMiles Members Angry Over Alleged Redemption Increases in Asia

Posted on: February 19th, 2011 by: Brian Cohen

Not able to find definitive information anywhere regarding an increase in the redemption of Delta Air Lines SkyMiles for award travel on flights within Asia, FlyerTalk member CIPAS asked “Anymore info on recent redemption increase for intra-asia?

When Delta Air Lines SkyMiles frequent flier loyalty program members — especially those based in Asia — found out that the cost for a trip between Tokyo and Singapore increased from 20,000 to 45,000 SkyMiles, most of them reacted with enough anger to spread the word.

At the time this was posted on The Gate, officials at Delta Air Lines had not yet confirmed with an actual announcement of the new worldwide SkyMiles award chart, which apparently angered SkyMiles members even more than the actual redemption increase itself — so much so that a movement to call attention to Delta Air Lines via various methods seems to be gaining momentum, while others are furious enough to accuse Delta Air Lines of engaging in questionable business practices.

Many FlyerTalk members are actually wondering if this is one way in which Delta Air Lines Seeks Premium Status in Asia, and if they are paying the price for it regarding the alleged increase in the redemption of SkyMiles on intra-Asia flights as a result?

A Promotion Gone Wrong at a Marriott Hotel Property?

Posted on: February 17th, 2011 by: Brian Cohen

A 1$ Rooms at the JW Marriott at LA LIVE promotion to celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of the J.W. Marriott Los Angeles at L.A. Live became dead after a public relations blunder where the promotion, originally set to launch at 9:00 in the morning Pacific Standard Time on February 15, instead started one hour earlier with no notice other than what was posted at a third-party weblog.

Ten lucky people were given the opportunity to stay overnight with accommodations in the 1,566-square-foot Chairman Suite, overlooking the Los Angeles skyline, with two glasses of champagne at gLAnce Wine Bar, breakfast for two at LA Market restaurant and complimentary valet parking — which supposedly normally retails for a room rate of as much as $90,000.oo.

Needless to say, those who did not secure the suite for $1.00 passed on the regular room rate — some with a bitter taste in their mouths, at that…
