The promotion of 4x Frequent Flyer Miles from Marriott after 2nd stay — valid from June 1 through August 31, 2011 — allows one to earn quadruple frequent flier miles from any one of twelve airline frequent flier loyalty programs, but one must first register for the promotion and also ensure that the earning preferences in one’s Marriott Rewards frequent guest loyalty program account is set to earn miles instead of Marriott Rewards points.
Be advised that because of the earning preferences, one cannot take advantage of both this promotion and the Megabonus promotion.
Other rules and restrictions may apply.

If you have given your e-mail address to Hilton HHonors, Marriott Rewards, credit card companies and other trusted corporations in the world, there is a good chance that the security of your e-mail account may have been compromised.
All of the affected companies have one thing in common: they all used database marketing vendor Epsilon to handle the privacy of e-mail accounts of millions of people – and you just might be one of them affected by this breach in privacy regarding your e-mail address.
In addition to the HHonors account information security data breach, there have been security breaches at other companies as well, including a Marriott Rewards Data Breach, an Epsilon data breach (email addresses) with credit card companies, and Email Address security Breaches affecting other companies such as Disney, Brookstone, Best Buy, Chase and Tivo — and FlyerTalk members are learning from those discussions exactly what they need to do to protect their privacy and help to keep their e-mail accounts secure.

The 2011 Annual Hotel Category Changes in the Marriott Rewards frequent guest loyalty program have been announced, and FlyerTalk members are generally not happy about the changes, despite the fact that three new brands — including The Ritz-Carlton — have been added to Marriott Rewards.
Some FlyerTalk members, however, seem to not be bothered by the changes, which are in effect as of Tuesday, March 8, 2011. Approximately 100 hotel properties will decrease by one category, while approximately 350 hotel properties will increase by one category.

A 1$ Rooms at the JW Marriott at LA LIVE promotion to celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of the J.W. Marriott Los Angeles at L.A. Live became dead after a public relations blunder where the promotion, originally set to launch at 9:00 in the morning Pacific Standard Time on February 15, instead started one hour earlier with no notice other than what was posted at a third-party weblog.
Ten lucky people were given the opportunity to stay overnight with accommodations in the 1,566-square-foot Chairman Suite, overlooking the Los Angeles skyline, with two glasses of champagne at gLAnce Wine Bar, breakfast for two at LA Market restaurant and complimentary valet parking — which supposedly normally retails for a room rate of as much as $90,000.oo.
Needless to say, those who did not secure the suite for $1.00 passed on the regular room rate — some with a bitter taste in their mouths, at that…

This basket case about a Platinum and A Fruit Basket is enough to make a Marriott Rewards Platinum elite member a basket case.
FlyerTalk member ljknecht570 apparently was so pleasantly surprised upon arriving to the hotel room to see a huge fruit basket, water and cheese awaiting — except that the only problem is that the basket was not addressed to ljknecht570, but rather to a different hotel guest.
What do you believe happened next?…

Is it because of moral values, new technology, or is it the possibility of hotel guests accessing pornography via complimentary high-speed access to the Internet instead of paying through the in-room entertainment system that prompted the decision of Marriott to Remove Adult Content from New Hotel Rooms?
To further elaborate on the easier access to entertainment via computers and hand-held devices, is the future of in-room entertainment itself in jeopardy?

Can you guess where is the World’s highest hotel, as well as in which city and country it is located?
It is not yet open to the public, but it will be in a few months.
While reading about the highest hotel in the world — and no, it has nothing to do with drugs — you will also find out where the highest library in the world is located, as well as the tallest hotel property in the world and where it is located…

Thankfully, no — one can still get chocolates with turn-down service at Marriott hotel properties, and other FlyerTalk members confirmed this after FlyerTalk member WillTravel4Food — a rather appropriate FlyerTalk name for this topic — asked about The End of Pillow Chocolates?
While it can be hit or miss regarding whether one even still receives turn-down service at least at some Marriott hotel properties, there are reports that in at least two Marriott hotel properties in one specific city, a full chocolate bar is given to guests, while in another city one can receive a chocolate chip cookie.
That truly is sweet…

If you want to place a long-distance telephone call from your hotel room, you may want to think twice.
The hang-up for FlyerTalk member BRUGUY is that he placed a telephone call whose duration was almost four minutes from his hotel room at the JW Marriott in Bangkok and was charged 935 Thai Bhat, or nearly 20 Euro. Those charges were certainly wrong numbers to BRUGUY.
We at The Gate will guarantee that you will never get a dial tone or busy signal — nor will you be charged any money — when attempting to access the Never ever make an intl call from JW Marriott BKK thread, where the details of the telephone call, as well as BRUGUY being the receiver of the reactions, opinions and commentary of other FlyerTalk members have been posted.
