The series of tips on “how to get to” countries and places will soon reach 50 destinations.
To commemorate I will give away some goodies I have collected on my travels. To enter comment on this post and request a country or place for me to make as the 50th destination. The one I choose will get the goodies, so please make your request stand out. You can see which countries and places I have already given how to get to tips at the how to get to index.

How about PNG? Its colourful, timeless and really not part of this world when you think about it. Also the people are lovely and friendly.

My suggestion is Antarctica. Thanks for writing such a useful blog. I enjoy reading about your experiences and your advice when it comes to flying.

I think you should consider Sweden becoming your 50th destination, it would be your first of the countries in the Nordic region and we are next to take over the chairman seat in the European union, so there will be a large number of people coming over to Sweden during the next couple of months.

How about Cyprus? My partner & I visited during the AZ YYZ-LCA "special" and it was a wonderful trip. Pictured is from a daytrip to the Turkish side of Nicosia/Lefkosia.

May I suggest Israel? It’s one country everybody should visit at least once. It’s got natural beauty, it’s packed with history and archaeology, and it’s terrifically interesting. Not an easy place to live in, but wonderful to visit.
It’s also not trivial to get to. Land crossing is possible (from Egypt and Jordan only) but tricky, whereas flights are quite limited to westward approach, if you see what I mean.
When you add an entry for Israel, do mention that in addition to TLV one can also fly to ETH.

I would suggest Hawaii, as this year it celebrates 50 years as the 50th State.

I suggest Croatia!

Albania! Can get here by boat/ferry, many international flights, and it also shares land borders with Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia and Greece.
Writing you from here right now! Beautiful country.

Been to Sabah, Malaysia yet?
Mountains, islands, scuba diving, jungle trekking, and the often miss-pronounced Orang Utan.

How to get to …Costa Rica would be my choice. I’ve got it on my list of places to visit. Prehaps a guide on how to get there would give me the push I need to actually go…

Montenegro! It’s the newest country in the world (at least it was when I visited, 2 summers ago), and you can easily get to it from Croatia or Bosnia, which are both worth visiting.
The sea town of Kotor is an easy drive from Dubrovnik and has an old fort high on the hill with a rock staircase good for a day climb. Inland, the limestone mountains look like something out of a Star Wars movie, it’s shocking that they’re not in movies.
Montenegro is one of the few places I’ve been that nobody else I know has ever heard of, let alone traveled to.

North Korea!
Truly a fascinating/intriguing destination, and of all the places in the world, probably one of the few for which a potential traveler would need the MOST expert help!

I suggest you stop doing this boring feature. I RSS’d your blog because you had some interesting things to say about your *own* experiences.
I don’t care how to get to croatia? Especially since it’s obvious you’ve never been to all of these places.
Share more about your own experiences! I enjoy those!

Thanks @Eric Bozinny for the feedback.
The “how to get to” series is about sharing information and tips on how to get to places cheaply and easily, rather than the things you can do and experience at each place.
Some countries and places are difficult and expensive to get to. As I intend going everywhere (so far I’ve been to over 100 countries), I’ve spent a lot of time learning how to get around the globe cheaply.
I’ll continue to post about my own travel experiences separately, both in this blog and elsewhere.

Would you mind adding Honduras? I have a personal interest in an upcoming trip – and, they have many destinations so it would be great to understand options.
Thanks!

Late to this contest-party, but my suggestion is the Faroe Islands. I arrived by ship August 2007 and spent approx 6 hours there. I’d love to know the options arriving by air!

I’d say Iran. It’s out of the ordinary, but an AMAZING destination for those in the know. If you need any help email me – I’ve done it as an American citizen.

What about Solomon Islands, few different ways to get there, fantastic place and if the infrastructure was better, would be one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Pacific

Why not Bora Bora – didn’t see it on your list and with all those over water lodging options, it seems like a great destination, especially during the winter here in North America!

Even though you’ve done the 50th, here are three other suggestions…
Egypt isn’t on your list and that’s got to be one of the more popular destinations.
On the other end of the spectrum is Equatorial Guinea, capital Malabo. 2nd wealthiest Africa state on a GDP per capita basis, but it doesn’t show (one guess where the oil money ends up), one of the most mysterious African states (and it is saying something).
“South Sudan” meaning Juba, given it is almost certainly going to be the newest country of all (and because I work with a handful of peope who regularly fly there from London).
erndog said,
I’d like to go to Egypt (with a side trip to Petra), Israel, and then on to Barcelona, and back to the US.
Any suggestion? I realize your travel tips are usually point to point round-trips, but if one is going for a week or so, it seems one might take advantage of multiple destinations instead of a round-trip ticket.
