With recent news that Spirit Airlines will charge for carry-on baggage, I thought it may be interesting to see just what kind of fees some airlines charge their passengers.

Here are some of the fees I’ve come across. Do you know which airlines use them?

  • Administration fee
  • Credit card payment fee
  • Debit card payment fee
  • Offline booking fee
  • Award ticketing fee
  • Quick ticketing fee
  • Paper ticket fee
  • Change fee
  • Cancellation fee
  • Name change fee
  • Service fee
  • Preferred seating / exit row fee
  • Seat selection fee
  • Online check-in fee
  • EarlyBird check-in fee
  • Airport check-in fee
  • Checked baggage fees
  • Excess baggage fees
  • Priority boarding fee
  • Fuel surcharge
  • Buy on board food & beverage
  • Travel assistance fee

Undoubtedly there are fees which I’ve missed. Please let us know in the comments and I’ll add them to the list.

    you missed a couple though:

    * would you like this plane to land at your intended destination FEE

    * would you like this flight to have a co-pilot fee

    * would you like the lavatories to operate on this flight fee

    * would you like this aircrafts scheduled service to be up to date fee

    * would you like this aircraft to depart within 60 minutes of the scheduled departure fee

    * would you like to insure your ticket purchase against airline bankruptcy fee

    * would you like to purchase a seat that has no gum, spilled drink, old food, human fecal matter on the seat fee?

    :-(

  3. Kris said,

The fee for the seatback AVOD is on Delta Airlines as well. Without fee you can watch live TV and play the Trivia game and that’s about it.

Tiger Airways charging e-booking fee. It is not the same as debit/credit card fee.
