I did not think I would write such a post but this is a Credit Card I would sign up for.
It is the Fairmont Visa Signature Card: 
It is interesting that there is no fee for the first year plus there are other benefits too:
I wonder whether it is possible to apply, get the free nights then cancel the card without any penalties.

You wonder whether? Of course it is. But don’t. You should apply for another Chase card and transfer the credit from this one over first, or if you don’t get approved you should trade this one for the new one…

Usually it is 1 year from the day they were issued (i.e. the free night certificates).
