Consolidation in the loyalty consolidation space

There are a number of players in the market vying to help you manage your frequent flier points. As of today, however, there is one fewer in play. Traxo, a mileage and travel aggregator and GoMiles announced today that GoMiles has been acquired by Traxo. The transaction is already complete and GoMiles accounts have been transferred to the Traxo systems (I checked mine and the account numbers came over but not the balances). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The deal adds a boost to the tracking and aggregation functions of Traxo and also better positions the combined company to succeed in the crowded loyalty aggregator space. Combining the trip tracking features of Traxo and the loyalty tracking features of GoMiles should leave Traxo in a better position to compete with industry leaders TripIt and AwardWallet.

Disclosure: I worked with the founders of GoMiles and own a very, very small portion of equity in the company; I have no idea how this transaction affects my equity stake.

  1. Do let us know when things get consolidated as far as balances go….and if anything special needs to be done.
