First time I’ve made this kind of post over on this blog…still has that new blog smell. 
- DayJet is dead.
- JetBlue is starting twice-daily service between Fort Lauderdale and San Juan. The airline will compete with Spirit on the route.
- Speaking of Spirit, Brett has two good posts on them this work. First, he talks about how Spirit is introducing onboard advertising, and then he talks about Spirit’s financial results.
- Apparently O’Hare had some flooding issues a few days ago…PlaneBuzz has the pictures.
- Ben is officially a featured blogger here a BoardingArea – congrats!
- Linking to Brett again here…Air Canada is rolling back the second checked bag fee, and WestJet is eliminating its fuel surcharge! Yay! Will the Americans follow? One hopes.
- Lufthansa is buying a stake in Brussels Airlines and the carrier will join Star.
- Alitalia’s a mess.
Dayjet dead. It’s not their demise that surprises me, it’s the caliber of aviation professionals that were behind it. Think of Pogo in the Northeast, which has connections to both Robert Crandall and Don Burr (I believe). The business model never convinced me, but that these industry heavy-weights were backing this idea made me think twice. Guess I should just stick to my gut…which is also quickly becoming a heavy-weight
