JetBlue Adds a Pair from FLL; Continental to Start IAH-FRA

Well, I guess its a good time to take a break from traffic reports. A couple of announcements of new service just came out.

First, yesterday JetBlue announced its intent to start daily service from Fort Lauderdale to Cancun and Santo Domingo. No details on specific flights were given, other than the service is supposed to begin in May. Interestingly, JetBlue will compete head-to-head with Spirit on both routes. According to its current timetable, Spirit operates one daily flight to Cancun, two daily flights to Santo Domingo, and a third flight to Santo Domingo on Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Meanwhile, Continental announced today that it would begin daily service from Houston to Frankfurt beginning November 1 next year, using a 767-200 for the flight. The route certainly makes sense based on Continental’s move to the Star Alliance from SkyTeam, as the flight should provide connections on Lufthansa.
