So, yesterday I found the Boarding Project on Twitter. The concept is pretty simple – when you get the airport, send #boarding ABC (where ABC is the airport code), and Boarding automatically picks it up, and puts you on a Google Map of recent posts.
Supposedly, it also sends a list of other users who have checked in at that airport within the last two hours. I tested it out by saying I was boarding at JFK (a bit busier than PVD), but never got one. There were other people on the map, but I just don’t think they had checked in recently. In fact, some of the same people were on the map this morning and yesterday. The map shows the last 100 posts. Based on that, it looks like the service isn’t used that much. If it is adopted my more people, though, I think this site is a very interesting concept, and a cool way to meet random strangers on Twitter.
Edit: The developer informs me on Twitter that many of the features are still in alpha.
