Say hello to N314US, the first Northwest A320 to wear the Delta colors. According to a search on JetPhotos, it looks like the aircraft never received the new Northwest livery. Special thanks to Diesel1030 on the Airline Pilot Central Forums for allowing me to share his pictures here.
Tell you the truth, I think the Delta colors look better on the A320 than they do on the 737 fleet. I used to really dislike the new Delta colors, but they are slowly growing on me. I still wish there was more blue on the bottom though.
In other news, a Northwest DC-9 has been painted in Delta colors, though I find that one less exciting since the MD-80 has already been wearing the scheme.
Next, I’m looking forward to seeing a Northwest A330 get repainted, as well as the Saab 340s. In fact, the Saab is interesting because not that many received the Northwest new colors. (In fact, I think only N407XJ was repainted, but please correct me if I am wrong.) I really hope that Delta doesn’t repaint the Saab bearing Mesaba’s anniversary livery though.

I think the A320 looks nice in DL colours. Like you I am eagerly awaiting the roll out of the A330 in DL colours. I like the A330, and while I know it will lose out to the 767 and 777 in the DL line up, I’d like to see it stay in DL’s inventory.

Thanks for stopping by, Fish!
I’m not sure what’ll happen to the 330 – I believe Northwest owns all of them, which I think will play a factor in how Delta plans out the fleet.
I just hate white alll the way around.. belongs in the meat department.. lol
I used to fly on a Northwest A330 and on Delta 767 (between France and the US). A330 is an awesome plane (and I don’t say that becaus I’m French, 777 is also a great plane). Let’s hope they gonna keep them in their fleet.
I believe NW owns all of their A330s, which I think only helps the case to keep them in the fleet.
I love the A320. It is strange, but I made a picture of the A320 Delta, like this one. Maybe we were in the same airport at the same time!
It does not look like a new a320… It looks pretty old to me. Did delta also redo the seats and put in IFE too?
Hi Tim – as far as I know it has just been repainted and the aircraft still has the NW interior, but I believe that change is on the way as well.
Hi Dan,
Just came across your site, thanks to your article in magazine on the excess capacity in the desert. One correction to your poll on SW…it is Cincinnati…1 “n” followed by “nn”…and only 1 little “t”. (I voted for CVG…we need help vs. the Delta $$$ demanded here.
Thanks!
TC
Wow, Tony, that’s a really dumb error on my part. Thanks for pointing it out!
I’d love to see a bit more blue maybe just a little up over the wing and to pull the two airlines together I would have kept the NWA circle with the Delta name and logo.
I just flew on a series of Northwest flights over the past few days. I was on an A320 painted in the new Delta Colors (the interior seats were still in the Northwest blue fabric) but the interior bulkhead had the new Delta Logo etched onto it, the same holds true for a DC9 that I also flew within the same itinerary. I thought the new Delta livery looked cool on these planes (I was never a fan of the newest Northwest livery). I can understand the paint job on the A320, I also saw an A330 and some E175s painted, but for the DC9 am I alone in thinking that was a waste of money? Why would Delta spend the money to repaint an aircraft that will be phased out over the next year or two?
