December traffic results are starting to come in, and I’ll cover the results for all of the airlines in a later post, but AirTran’s results really stood out for me. Unlike some of the other airlines, the airline’s RPMs increased 2.3%. That result is paired with a 6.9% decrease in ASMs compared to December 2007. As a result, load factor increased nicely by 7.1 points to 79.8%. Not too shabby, in my opinon, considering RPMs in November last year were down 6.6% compared to November 2007.
