A New Blogging Venture

Before I get started – no, nothing’s changing with this blog, nor am I leaving BoardingArea.

I have, however, been invited by the kind folks over at About Airport Parking to start writing a blog for them. So while on this blog you’ll find a very healthy dose of airline-geekery, this new blog will focus more heavily on airport news.

You can check it out here. I’d really appreciate it if you visited (often), and would love to hear any feedback you might have!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all – I’ll be back with regular posts on Monday.

A Note About the Upcoming Week

My last day of classes was on Friday, so that means that it’s time for finals. As a result, my posting might be a bit irregular over the next few days, sorry about that! Hopefully they will go well, and I will be a much more sane person at 2 PM on Friday. :D

Now Featured on BoardingArea

I thought it might be worth noting that I have now joined the ranks of BoardingArea’s featured bloggers. What does that mean for the blog? Not a whole lot, really, except that my posts will now appear on the BoardingArea homepage. Plus, you can now see my ugly mug on this page!

But, many thanks to Randy for all of his support over the past year! And thank you to everyone who has been reading faithfully. :D

Off to Boston This Weekend

Usually on weekends I have everyone’s favorite two favorite corny post categories, but I’m going to take this weekend off. Southwest is launching Boston service on Sunday, and they were kind enough to invite me up for the festivities, so tomorrow morning I’ll be headed up there. I can’t wait!

Happy (Belated) Birthday to Things in the Sky

I kept on planning to make this post, but I just plain forgot! A week ago, June 5, was Things in the Sky’s first birthday, as that is when I made my first airline-related post back on danwebb.us. Anyway, it’s been a really great year. I’ve learned a heck of a lot, and met so many people along the way. So, thanks to everyone for a good first year, and hopefully the next will be even better. :D

My Vacation = Great Guest Posts

Well, tomorrow I’ll be flying down to Florida, and on Saturday I will be boarding Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas  for a week-long cruise. Out of pure chance, fellow BoardingArea blogger Marshall Jackson will be onboard as well. This is actually the same ship I took last year, and it will be visiting the same ports, but in a different order. Unlike last year, though, I will be putting up a full trip report.

But the blog won’t be taking a break while I’m gone. Friends of mine have been very kind to write up some guest posts that will post automatically, and personally, I think they’re great.

While I’m gone, I probably won’t be doing any posting, but there’s a good chance that I’ll be tweeting along the way, especially if I get a coupon for free internet time (otherwise, it’s really expensive).

Now On FlightMemory!

No, the blog isn’t going anywhere but I wanted to mention that FlightMemory has added a new section of its homepage for registered users, which contains a mix of posts from here and SimpliFlying. This new feature provides yet another way for fellow airplane geeks to read the sub-standard aviation analysis here at Things in the Sky. :D

Many thanks to the guys at FlightMemory for setting this all up and giving me this oppurtunity.

A Revamp…Again?

Ok so the blog has changed again. In the housekeeping department I updated both WordPress and K2. These were both overdue changes. But I’ve also deleted all my old posts, and I plan to take the blog in a new direction yet again! Please follow the evolution of danwebb.us:

  1. I get this domain and do nothing with it.
  2. I make a bad website in Frontpage.
  3. My website just becomes a place to store files.
  4. I install WordPress and blog about my life.
  5. I decide to make the blog about life and planes.
  6. I decide it should be all about planes.
  7. This site remains about planes, but I make another blog about life.
  8. I deleted the second blog. I make this blog about life again but ignore it.

So what am I planning to do this time? Well I think I’m going to make this more of a business-y blog (that’s the technical term by the way), meaning that it will be mostly about aviation. The reason I decided not to make it about my life is because that blog was meant for my friends. Now that Facebook has Notes, an application meant for blogging, so I can share my thoughts with my friends there.

So hopefully I’ll actually post now…
