As a royal ambassador, you are entitle to free mini bar when stay Intercontinental hotels, but if you have a Chinese name with china registered address, I can guarantee you will get a nearly empty mini bar when you stay at IC in mainland China. What’s in there? a couple of soft drinks + a couple of waters, they will empty your mini bar prior to arrival. If for some reason they forget, they will ask you to wait few minutes in the lobby before they can empty mini bar.
Well, I don’t stay with this chain anymore, but still interesting to see those “benefits” provided to Chinese members such as account closure or special mini bars. They will do everything they can to prevent” you get more than you spend”, but never want to fix their IT system.

Many people knew, Priority club closed mine and all my family account last year due to whatever reason they claimed, I did attempt to get my acct back, but no success.From that point, I don’t stay with them anymore, don’t even bother to check anything relate to this chain.
Around the same time, many accts in China got closed due to various reason. Just yesterday, more acct got closed for one more same reason: Booking Presidential suite.
Few days ago, there was a Crowne Plaza hotel in China mistakenly loaded Presidential Suite for CNY 126 per night. many people took advantage of it, sure too, I guess many people took advantage of $3 Toyko Conrad few years ago, $20 Prince De Galles, Paris or a SPG hotel in Thailand in Uganda currency, What happen? Nothing, hotel honor the reservation, that’s all.
What did IHG do? well, it’s not my business anymore, but still want to share.
