China Eastern(MU) will join skyteam(Official)

As I said here and here few months ago, MU announced today that they will join by mid-2011

This is not a news to me as we know the management of MU has closer “relationship” with skyteam for pretty long time.

A big loss for Oneworld, but no surprise. I don’t want to MU, a badly managed airline to join oneworld anyway.

Oneworld’s only choice is HU(hainan airlines), but it will be a good choice as I and most others consider HU is THE best airline in China in term of customer service and management.

BTW, as I mentioned earlier, shanghai airline will be gone and merge with MU, so a big loss to *A for Shanghai Hub.

MU(china Eastern) will join Skyteam very soon!

I mentioned few times before about upcoming china Eastern alliance choices, it looks like the date is coming soon based on the following fact

Effective March 27th, FM(Shanghai airline) will move to Terminal 2 at PEK airport.

Since FM will be merged with MU and T2 is the terminal for all skyteam carriers+MU right now, MU will join Skyteam soon. Otherwise, they would just move MU to T3 now.

China Eastern(MU) airlines will sign agreement to join Skyteam as early as next month

From a reliable source, MU will sign agreement to join Skyteam next month.

Skyteam currently has KE,CZ  and NW Asia hub in Asia and will add MU, VN and JL, this will make Skyteam become very competitive with Star Alliance.

Oneworld needs to do something now. Although, onewolrd is the strongest in South America Region, consider the business and economy potential, Asia has a lot of more than South America.
