After long time back and forth discussion with my wife, she finally decided to take the trip with our baby to Hong Kong, Macau and Hainan Island.
We spent our first night at Shenzhen Sheraton hotel to meet with our relatives for border crossing the next day. Arrived hotel around 9:30pm, the room was upgraded to Studio Suite. I requested an infant crib before we arrive, the crib was ready when we got there. However, I was quite disappointed about the crib, it’s so deep and very hard to put baby in and out. Eventually, we let baby sleep with us on the same bed for the night.
The Lounge closed too early on the weekend, 8:00pm. well, it’s just for one night, so not big deal.
Does the crib look like a cage to you?

SPG just released their new promotion, double points+500 bonus per night on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday with 10% of hotels don’t participanting. I would not say this is a great offer, but as always said, something is better than nothing.
Marriott will release their new Mega bonus 3 days later, as always, diff people got diff promotion, let’s see what we got this time
Hilton already leaked their promotion, which is similar to SPG last year Q1 promotion, 2 nights double, 3 nights triple and 4 nights Quarple.
so Hyatt, what will be yours?

This is certainly a bad news, according to this link, you have option until Jan 9th to redeem at current non peak travel rate.
In addition, SPG hotels category shifts once every year with exception of this year. Most likely by Feb of 2011, hotel category change will be effective again. Looking at the hotel rate of this year, I think most hotel will increase category.

From now to Jan, 31, 2011, register and stay at participating Asia Pacific, Africa and Middle East properties 3 times and pay with you mastercard, you will earn 1 free weekend night to use at Cat 1-6 Asia Pacific, Africa and Middle East. The max weekend night can be earned is one.
Registration required, list of participating properties can be found here
Weekend is defined Friday, Saturday and Sun in Asia Pacific and some Africa countries. Middle East and selected Africa countries weekend is Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Due to extensive flying in past few weeks, I finally got flu, just feel a little better now.
Also, I lost my laptop power cord at AA ORD first class loungue on the way back to Beijing. Many things can not be done without my own computer, will get a replacement ASAP
Finally, I got a phone call from citi bank last week while I was in the States, my credit card got unauthorized charge in Italy. I was quite surprised when I heard that because the card they used was a card I have not used for many many months. I just couldn’t figure out a way they got my card because the card never left my wallet. Yesterday, I saw a post in Chinese frequent flyer disscussion board, someone else credit card got unauthorized charge after staying at Sheraton Frankfurt Airport, I suddenly remember the only place I used this card was at this hotel as deposit, all my expenses in Europe including deposit at other properties were paid by cash.
BTW, Next week is the last week of Shanghai World Expo, I will be there and will report back!!

SPG is releasing the stay counts double promotion for rest of 2010, however, it’s for stay at Aloft, Four points and Elements. you need to register here btw now and Dec 31st, all stays from Oct 1st-Dec 31st at these brands will be counted double.
If you read the ad, it only says “nights count double”, but if you read T&C, it says stay will be counted double too. They have been advertising like this since last year.
In addition, If you are just a general member with SPG, there is another fast track to GOLD status, same as above, valid at above brands only. you need to register then stay before Jan 31st, 2011. 4 stays will get you Gold

Some people already know that SPG had brought back Cat 1 and 2 Cash + Points redemption for US and Canada properties last year, but I think you also noticed you could not find any C+P avlialibity when you search online. Actually, it didn’t mean C+P option is not available, you just need to call to book this options.
I just booked several Cat 1 four points for 1200+$25 USD per night, after my platinum amenity, it only cost me 950 points+$25 USD per night, but the hotel is selling for $135+taxes.
Not too many cat 1 left around!
