the news is from oneworld.com
“American Airlines, along with fellow oneworld alliance founding members British Airways, Qantas and Cathay Pacific Airways, today outlined US$2 billion in commercial benefits to Japan Airlines (JAL) over three years. The enhanced oneworld proposal would provide JAL the best path to future success while minimizing risk for the Japanese government and taxpayers and maximizing the benefits for air travelers.
The enhanced, broad-based commercial offer would serve as a key component of a comprehensive, government-led restructuring plan for JAL. As part of the proposal, JAL would remain a key partner in oneworld, a collection of 11 of the most respected brands in the airline industry.”

due to the incident happened yesterday, TSA will impose new rules,
“during the final hour of flight passengers must remain seated. They won’t be allowed access to carryon baggage or to have any items on their laps.”
This rule make me want to laugh, will the new rule prevent anything? I doubt, it’s a pretty useless rule.
Don’t drink too much, you can not go lavatory in last hour.

I said I will talk about this separately, during the past few years, Hilton never gave member a lot of promotions, but this year, under the pressure of their competitors, Hilton starts to release system wide promotion. However compare to other chains, HH program has the most expensive redemption rate for mid tier award level properties and lack of bonus.
In Octorber, Hilton increased the point redemption level effective Jan 15th and created a new level 7 properties. Also, Hilton no longer offer Points Strecher awards. The devaluation made the redemption level went as much as 25%.
The Biggest problem is, Unless other chains, which have lots of middle tier properties with lower redemption amount. Hilton has lots properties are higher tier. Even for mid tier, the rate are expensive.
Take a example of Level 3 properties with Hilton and Marriott because both programs offer similar earning structure. 60000 points can get you 5 free nights at Marriott level 3, but u need 125,000 points for a Hilton level 3 hotel! that’s more than double of Marriott requires. If u compare the highest level properies on both chains, Marriott requires 160,000 for 5 nights at level 8, but Hilton requires 250,000 for 5 nights at level 7.
They lose the last redemption advantage, which was on Cat 6 Properties(will be Cat 7).
What the “good” thing about this change? Hilton management can write off tons of points on their Financial statement Liability section.
