If you ever needed a little nudge to pick up an HD Tivo box then this might be that nudge! A little under $700 gets you the Tivo HD, LIFETIME service, the Tivo USB Wireless adapter, shipping and a TiVo plush doll…
The TiVo HD unit normally sells for $262, and service is $129 per year (when prepaid). So after about three and a half years you’ll start making money off this deal.
Keep in mind that the TiVo HD will not work on satellite services, and you’ll need to order 2 cable cards from your cable provider to get access to their digital programming.
How can TiVo help when you are on the road you ask?
- Remote scheduling of shows using your web browser
- Copy TiVo recordings from the device to your laptop, iPod, Palm or PSP (with TiVo desktop)
- Watch stuff you missed when you were on the road
- Stream recordings to your hotel when you add a Slingbox

- Confirmed : I love the Slingbox
- Confirmed: The Slingbox can stream your TV signal over the Internet
- Plausible: The Slingbox can help alleviate boredom when stuck in a hotel room or airport lounge
- Busted: The Slingbox Pro and Solo device can stream HD over the Internet
OK. I’ll admit that this little show was all done just to try and explain the final myth I posted above.

2 million units sold means nothing. A+ reviews are useless. Millions of salivating fans claiming it’s better than sex? Means zilch.
The best way to tell that the iPhone is a huge success is that there are at least 11 knock off clones of it.
Of course, none of them actually have the exact interface of the iPhone (unlike the fabled Meizu MiniOne), but the creative Chinese designers have added things like a dual display, FM radio, a "spy camera" and even dual sim card holders to some models.

I don’t usually post 2 deals a day unless it is for something really cheap. In a recent thread on Flyertalk most members unanimously voted the Jawbone Bluetooth headset to be the best there is.
I’m more of a Plantronics fan myself , but there are clearly a lot of people who believe in the Jawbone.
So, if you want to hop aboard the Jawbone train, check out this deal from Amazon, where the headset is on sale for just $68, with free shipping.

Several days ago I posted about the new Photoshop online beta. But some eagle eyed readers on Flyertalk noticed that Adobe included some nasty restrictions in the user agreement. According to the agreement, anything you uploaded, but left "public" would suddenly become the property of Adobe.
In the world of photography nothing is worth more than your photos, so it’s needless to say that the restriction didn’t go down too well.
Thankfully Adobe have come to the same conclusion:
We’ve heard your concerns about the terms of service for Photoshop Express beta. We reviewed the terms in context of your comments – and we agree that it currently implies things we would never do with the content. Therefore, our legal team is making it a priority to post revised terms that are more appropriate for Photoshop Express users. We will alert you once we have posted new terms. Thank you for your feedback on Photoshop Express beta and we appreciate your input.

My deal of the day today is a product that comes with my personal seal of approval (it’s the same system I carry along with me).
The Navigon 5100 dropped to just $239 on Amazon.com. What makes this deal more impressive than most other navigation systems is the included FREE lifetime traffic subscription AND the built in Zagat points of interest database.
It’s the perfect size, not too big, not too small. It comes with the most impressive window mount of any GPS unit I’ve ever had AND the built in "reality view" lane assist is brilliant when you are driving on roads you are not familiar with. Of course, once the Navigon 8100 is here I’ll probably switch, but till then I’m relying on my 5100 to get me from A to Z.

I know I’ve been pretty harsh on Palm in the past weeks, it’s hard not to be disappointed by them. But apparently by July all their troubles could be over when they release the Treo 800W.

Last week a Sprint summer lineup roadmap was leaked and subsequently removed because of legal threats, which is usually a sign that it is real.
The Treo 800W is supposedly a Windows Mobile 6.1 device, with a 320×320 screen (a first on a Windows device), real GPS, WiFi (a first on a Palm Treo), options for camera or no camera and Rev.A EVDO (another first on a Treo). As always with a new Treo, Sprint seems to be getting the sole rights on it for a couple of months
All in all it looks only moderately impressive. But when you look what the competition has to offer, then it’s clear that Palm is still a few years behind the rest. I had hoped for something truly revolutionary from Palm, or at least something that would be a departure from the 5 year old Treo form factor.
In a world where the Blackberry still rules the corporate world and newcomers like Apple and HTC are eating away market share from everyone, I had expected more from Palm.

Interesting article in USA Today this morning. Apparently some hotels are starting to offer gaming consoles on an hourly basis.
Now, this is nothing new, since many hotels have been trying to lure you (or your kids) into paying $7 an hour for 10 year old Nintendo 64 games (thanks Lodgenet!).
Popular interactive virtual-reality games played via consoles hooked up to TVs in rooms, lounges or activity centers are scoring points with guests of all ages.
The Westin chain is in groundbreaking talks with Nintendo to offer customized Wii (pronounced "we") systems in its more than 150 hotels and resorts, says Nadeen Ayala, a Westin spokeswoman. Details haven’t been announced yet.
The fitness center at Manhattan’s Le Parker Meridien has a customized Nintendo Wii console (games are preloaded and can’t be pirated). Guests and non-guests work out with a trainer on Wii tennis or boxing projected on a racquetball court wall ($120 an hour) or rent the console to play solo or with pals ($50 an hour).

I’m a guy, so once a week I can be found buying stuff at Home Depot for things back home I think need fixing. When trolling the aisles I came across a gadget I want to share with you.
![Capture [640x480]](http://www.techontheroad.com/images/Sillycheapbutgreatgadgetoftheday_7D2C/Capture640x480.jpg)
The Black and Decker “Power To Go” adapter is a self contained DC to AC inverter with a USB charging port.
In plain English, this means it’s a box with a battery pack and can output AC power and USB charging power. This means you can bring it along on your trips (it only weighs 5.9oz) and always have access to power for your mobile phone, iPod or PDA.
If you can’t charge the device through USB, you can use the AC adapter included with your device.
The best part? Home Depot has them on nationwide clearance for….$2! This 10 watt version is called the CPI10B, but they also carry a 20 watt version (CPI20B) and a 100 watt unit (the CPI100B). The 20 watt and 100 watt units are just $5! All of them come complete with an AC charger and nice carrying bag. Sadly Black and Decker didn’t include a DC (car) charging cord). They are made by Vector Products, who have been making AC/DC chargers and inverters for years.
Needless to say that I picked up a couple of these, and since I’m such a big spender, I picked up a couple of extra 10 watt units for my loyal readers!
If you think these portable chargers could make your life a little easier, just leave a comment under this post and I’ll randomly pick 4 lucky readers. I’ll even ship them for free to you (US only please!). I’ll contact the winners by email to get a shipping address.
Sorry, they are all taken. Those that left a comment will get an email from me for their contact info! Thanks for playing!
If you don’t win, and would still like to get your hands on one, check out your local Home Depot.

It was a slow news weekend, so I can’t blame the 100′s of fellow bloggers who reported about the upcoming launch of the new AT&T mobile TV service. But what surprises me is the enthusiasm it was presented with.
I have several phones here with some form of mobile TV, and I don’t recall ever using it for any length of time.
These mobile TV services only pop up on regular phones, not the nice smartphones with the kind of screen it would be worth watching TV on. Who enjoys watching TV on a 1" screen anyway?
I fully understand that it’s "cool" to send out press releases announcing that you’ll be offering live TV on select handsets. But on all my trips I’ve yet to run into anyone that actually sat down and watched some TV on their phone.
At $15 a month it’s hardly a bargain either. You’d be better off with a decent smartphone and a Slingbox; that way you get to watch anything you want and if you have a DVR at home, you can skip the silly commercials. The only thing worse than commercials on TV, is commercials on your phone.
