The OBihai OBi100 is much, much better than mJ. For one, Obihai's products can be used with the free Google Voice service or ANY SIP-based provider who gives customers their user credentials. Companies like Callcentric, Vitelity, VoicePulse, Voip.ms and many more support this. What's more is that Obihai will provide e-mail and live phone support.

Hi all, I'm not sure what all the complaints are about. Today I purchased my 2nd MJ! I use the first one for my home based business and it has worked fantastic! I even used it to fax, although I did have some intermittent trouble with that. Today I purchased the MJ PLUS which does not need to be connected to a computer to work! The initial set up needs a computer connection, and yes it costs an extra $20 but it works great. My new fax also has a setting that works specifically with VOIP which i think helps cancel out some of the static noise. I also added the MJ APP to my Iphone today and it works great too! Very cool. Love it for travelling! Well worth the price even if there are a few quirks once in a while.
For those having trouble, I would bet it's either the computer or the internet connection. Also, I found it works better without the usb extension adapter. For some reason this causes a bit more static in the connection.
Oh,and I love the fact that it sends me an email when I get a message. It means I can check my voicemail from anywhere I have email access! Pretty cool!

ive had my MJ over 2 years now....there are only 3 things i have to say in regards to "issues"

for some time my calls would auto hangup after 2hours..and then you have to wait 5-10 mins to re-make the call...annoying for a longdistance relationship but acceptable..HOWEVER it now seems they have changed it to 90mins

calls in and out of canada, mexico "continental" US are all considered domestic

as for those of you with poor call quality..3 things can cause it..a bunch of crap running on your machine..open task manager and change the priority level to something higher for your magicjack or close enything you dont need running.....i have my jack on an old laptop with NOTHING extra running....if you have a "glitchy call..hang up and try again...it doesnt happen often but it can and will more often than not clean up the call and call delay....i have also found if your running around the net while trying to hold a call on the jack ..eventualy your call quality will drop off so bad it gets crazy and the ONLY fix is to close all your net..hang up and recall...ive come to refer to this as internet stacking as it seems that you can sit on one forum trolling around all night while on the phone with no issue but start hitting multiple sites and you just clog the pipe

im hooked on my MJ...now...if i could just plug it straight into my smartphone for "across the boarder" free calls via bluetooth on long drives i would be epic happy

Hasn't anyone noticed that the positive reviews come directly after a negative ones? MagicJack representatives write the positive reviews...no one else.

I've never seen a MagicJack device, considered buying one or have even heard of one until they miraculously got a hold of my Debit Card account number and have charged me $70...for nothing. Scam, scam, scam.

(And watch, following this *should be* a positive review...)

I bought my magicjack a few months ago when taking a trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I have had 2 issues with it. First, I cannot get it to run on my laptop, which is about 6 months old, running Vista SP2, with 3 Gig of Ram. 2nd, I was using the hotel's wireless internet service, which was very slow. Most of my calls were so choppy, I had to hang up. a few nights I was able to get thru with better service. I am going back for 3 months in the winter, staying at a condo. I will get my own internet service & hopefully have better luck. I ended up installing it on my husband's laptop, which is also running vista with SP2. I have tried many things with my laptop including taking it over to my friends at the geek squad. no one was able to figure it out. It just keeps saying it's updating. If you can get it to load, & you have a decent internet connection, it's really not a bad deal for the $$$

Hi.........do you have bad quality VOICE when making a phone call? first try picking up the phone (turn ON / start a call) THEN end that call...... then make the CALL AGAIN. Sometimes your Computer or Magicjack goes to a "sleep" like condition, then you will have bad voice quality. This process works for me, even having a 768 mbps internet connection and a Pentium 3 with 256 MB of ram laptop (and that`s and old laptop)........

And for $20 a year you can use it anywhere in the world to call to USA & Canada.......................caller ID, Voice message, 911, etc, etc...............that`s 2 weeks of service for a regular land line......... only bad point : FAX use.. some people says it works for them (i havent tried it).
