My deal of the day is the Magellan 4040 GPS unit. This text to speech enabled GPS system has built in Bluetooth (for making hands free calls), as well as a fairly decent database with 1.5 million points of interest (this unit can be “hacked” to add an additional 5.5 million points of interest).
The unit is refurbished, which means it was returned to Magellan who then clean it up, replace anything necessary and repackage it. Unfortunately Amazon do not mention what kind of warranty is included.

1Be warned though - Magellan’s customer service sucks if you have problems. I’ve got about 140 comments over at http://ben-johnson.org/blog/archives/2005/10/158/ about how bad their service is.
Basically, it can takes months to get a unit repaired, they disappear into black holes, they don’t actually get fixed, etc.
Buy a Garmin or a TomTom.

2Thanks for the comments Ben. I agree with the poor history from Magellan. I gave someone a Magellan for Christmas and it broke down after a month. But they actually made things right by setting up an exchange within 7 days. I’d say that’s pretty much on par with any electronics manufacturer.
Of course, it’s better if the thing wouldn’t break in the first place…
